Unboxing

This is how the QNAP TVS-x72xt + has arrived at our office. A box in which the model is indicated, and several of its characteristics on its label.

We open the box and see that the cabling, the NAS and the rest of the components are perfectly protected and separated into boxes or sectors of the packaging so that they do not get mixed up during shipment.

Design

Bottom view of the QNAP TVS-x72xt + NAS. It is appreciated that it has four legs so that ventilation flows through the bottom and can be placed even in a small space on the floor or a table.

Front look. We appreciate the four hard drive bays, USB for backup, and the power button.
Above the bays there is a screen that indicates the status of the NAS, and other useful information.

In the lower right corner of the front of the QNAP TVS-x72xt +, there is the power button, next to the backup USB, and the mark that warns us that it allows expansions of up to 10 GbE.

As is common in QNAP NAS, the bays of the QNAP TVS-x72xt + have their own adapter caddies that allow us to insert our hard drives. They still have their usual security systems so they don't accidentally disengage.

This is how a hard disk is inserted in one of the caddies of this QNAP TVS-x72xt +. These caddys work with any hard drive that we have and want to use in the NAS.

This is how the QNAP TVS-472XT + NAS looks open. A very compact design so that it fits on many shelves or in the little space of an office table.

Look at the rear, where the connection cables, the power supply and the main fan are located. We see that it has two batches of 2Gb ports, USB and USB-C, expansion port, HDMI output port, and an emergency reset button.

One of the expansion ports, under two Thunderbolt ports to connect through high speed other devices such as laptops or computers so that we can use the QNAP TVS-472XT + as well as as NAS, as DAS on which to work, so that we will have at instantly a huge storage system.

We open the NAS again, and show how it looks from one of the sides. The motherboard and power supply take up very little space so there is plenty of room for the air from the ventilation to circulate.

From this side you can see the huge heatsink of the NAS, which takes advantage of the space provided by the small motherboard and power supply.

QNAP TVS-x72xt + experience and conclusion
We are no strangers to QNAP NAS, and this QNAP TVS-x72xt + is no wonder. It continues in the line of having products that are easy to operate, with a store of solvent applications, and enormous accessibility. One of the best features in this model are the two Thunderbird ports, so that we can directly connect a PC or laptop and work on the NAS itself on projects that require high storage capacity.
It is still a reliable NAS, easy to use, with potential ... But being the QNAP TVS-x72xt + with only four bays, it seems somewhat short for a large company that requires a greater number of partitions, or a greater management of hard drives to be four insufficient, to give two practical examples. Also, it sins of having a high price for small companies or home users, who even within the same brand have more accessible options for their needs.
- Thunderbolt connection capacity to work on it at high speed.
- High performance capacity thanks to its CPU.
- As a NAS it falls short as a business solution, and too expensive as a home-use NAS for the price.
