Review: Chuwi Hi10 Pro dual-bot tablet
Table of Contents
We analyze the Chuwi Hi10 Pro tablet, which has a dual-bot boot, combining Windows 10 and Android 5.1 and an Intel processor from the Mobile series has been used as a processor.
Tablets are losing strength in the market, as large smartphones have gained ground and are a better option for users. Solutions that have dual-boot or what is the same, that have two operating systems on the same tablet, are not very common, being able to choose the one that interests us the most. The Chuwi Hi10 Pro is a tablet that has this dual-boot, with very interesting features and benefits and not only that, the price of this tablet is very restrained and the internal hardware is very attractive.
We could practically define this tablet as a laptop and the Chuwi Hi10 Pro can be used as a laptop, since it has the Windows 10 operating system installed natively and it can also be used as a tablet, since it has Android 5.1, being able to choose the operating system that we want, depending on the moment. We are talking about more than a tablet, but perhaps something less than a laptop, it reminds us many of netbooks, 10 ”laptops that were very popular for a while, but ended up banished by laptops.
SPECIFICATIONS
We are talking about a compact solution, but very powerful and this tablet has high quality hardware, more than enough to move the two operating systems installed on this tablet. It may seem that this tablet from China may be of poor quality or mount shabby hardware, but nothing is further from the truth, since it is committed to good hardware for a reasonable price. This tablet can compete efficiently with more expensive solutions that usually run only Android.
We start with the screen, which has dimensions of 10.1 inches with a maximum resolution of 1920 × 1200 pixels with an IPS panel technology. This screen is fully capacitive with ten contact points and offers support for a stylus, while the brightness of this tablet is 350lux, which shows excellent characteristics.
One of the most important aspects of any technological product is the processor, which offers the power and in this case an Intel Cherry Trail Z8350 has been chosen, which has a 14nm architecture for the mobile segment. This processor has four cores and four processing threads, working at a base frequency of 1.44GHz and has a Boost mode that raises the frequency to 1.92GHz, has 2MB of L3 cache and has a 2W SDP, which means that it offers us great power and high energy efficiency. Regarding the graphics, this processor integrates the eighth generation Intel HD Graphis 400 with a base frequency of 200MHz and a Boost mode of 500MHz.
This processor comes with 4GB of DDR3 RAM and has a storage capacity of 64GB in an eMMC 5.0 format and can be expanded with a microSD memory card with a maximum of 128GB. A 6500mAh battery has been arranged, which offers us about five or six hours of autonomy with typical use. Perhaps the weakest point is the front and rear cameras, which are simply 2MPx, which are fine for video calls, but in photos it is not attractive at all.
We turn to connectivity, a fundamental aspect in which they have put a lot of interest, since everything necessary has been available to make it an attractive and competitive tablet. It has WiFi 802.11 b / g / n, has Bluetooth 4.0, has a 3.5mm audio jack, microHDMI output and a USB Type-C port, which has become popular in tablets and smartphones. Additionally, a microUSB port has been added.
Finally, we must highlight that this tablet has a total dimensions of 261.8 × 167.3 × 0.85mm, which indicates that this tablet is extremely thin and has a total weight of 562 grams, therefore it is also quite light. The structure is made of aluminum and offers a very good finish, similar to tablets with a much higher price.
THE CHUWI Hi10 PRO IN DEEP
This is a compact tablet, but with a fairly large frame, thus forming a tablet of excellent dimensions to carry everywhere. The tablet has been developed in CNC aluminum, which gives it a high quality finish and a very robust design. Although it may seem of poor quality, it is the opposite, since everything has been pampered to the maximum, even the frames, which have been excellently polished. This is made of aluminum, which is why it is interesting to use a cover, to avoid scratching it or slipping it.
One of the most interesting aspects of this tablet is the screen, which is in 16:10 format with a FullHD resolution and a really impressive graphic quality and with excellent brightness. This resolution, together with the hardware, allows you to move Windows 10 without major problems and we see that it is very fluid, like Android, which has a graphic quality equal to smartphones that have FullHD screens. If we have it for a long time, we can get a little tired, but the truth is that the design, connectivity, hardware and dual boot make it an excellent tablet that is not made of plastic or similar materials and is made of aluminum, make it ideal.
PERFORMANCE
We can think that a tablet with Windows 10 and Android could be deficient in terms of performance and fluidity, but nothing is further from the truth, since powerful hardware has been arranged that allows moving both operating systems without major problems. Another interesting aspect is the sound, since many tablets usually offer a sound that leaves much to be desired, but in this case the reproduction of music, videos or movies is really good in terms of sound, since the side speakers are quite good. quality.
The only negative that we can highlight about this tablet is the camera, well, the rear and front cameras, since both are quite deficient. The front has a pass, since it is designed above all for video calls, but the 2MPx rear is a very shabby camera today, although it is clear that a half-kilo tablet, which is more similar to a laptop with the keyboard, than a tablet itself, it is not a tablet to take photos.
WINDOWS & ANDROID
Having both operating systems in the same unit is excellent and clear, the Chuwi Hi10 Pro, despite not being a big fan of these products, seems to us the best possible option, for such a reasonable price and that it has Windows 10 and Android in the same system without major problems, it seems excellent to us. Perhaps the only negative is that it uses Android 5.1 Lollipop, since it is a bit outdated, but it should be solved with an update, which has to be close to arriving. It must also be taken into account that the 64Gb is distributed between both operating systems, but that it supports up to 128GB via microSD.
DRUMS
The Chuwi Hi10 Pro offers an interesting battery, which offers us a range of up to five hours with video playback and about six hours in normal use, which is more than excellent battery life for a product with a 10 ”screen. and a brightness as high as this case is. The same charge is a bit slow, since through the 5V and 3A transformer, this tablet takes between three and four hours to fully charge. It must also be said that it is the average charging time of any tablet on the market with a respectable battery.
CONCLUSION
It is undoubtedly an excellent solution for a very moderate price and that it has Windows 10 and Android 5.1 makes it ideal for those who want a tablet with work and office functionality and to use communication applications with Android. This 10-inch tablet is excellent and allows us to install any application or program that we need. We will not find anything better on the market for about € 200 that this tablet costs without a keyboard, but we recommend buying the keyboard, which is priced at € 45, with which we will have not only a tablet, but practically a compact laptop that we can use for office automation, multimedia or entertainment.
