Thermaltake Smart BX1 RGB 750W - Review

We have received the Thermaltake Smart BX1 RGB 750W Power Supply for review. This power supply is characterized by being a source that seeks to offer a good quality / price ratio. To offer optimum quality, this power supply has Japanese capacitors. It has a fan with RGB for efficient cooling and is 80Plus Bronze certified.

Thermaltake's PSU is not modular, which can be a problem. Having modular cabling allows us to eliminate all those cables that we will not use and leave a cleaner system. Although for those on a tight budget, this may not be a problem and are just looking for something that will suit them.

Presentation

This power supply arrives in a box with the characteristic Thermaltake design. The box is black with a strip above clothing where the name of the brand is. We also see a photo and where some characteristics of this power supply stand out. It also shows us the 80Plus Bronze certification.

The back part indicates some relevant data, such as the number of connectors, the power according to the voltage and an efficiency table. An efficiency table that tells us that up to 50% load is above 90% efficiency. When it is exceeded it can drop to 87%.

Specifications:

Thermaltake has opted for this Smart BX1 RGB for a single 12V rail, an important fact. This indicates that said rail supports up to 56A or what is the same, up to 672W. If we want to mount a mid-range system this power supply is a more than interesting solution.

One thing Thermaltake clearly went wrong is not adding 0dB fan technology to this power supply. Most manufacturers already add it for gaming power supplies, but Thermaltake doesn't. Of course, the fan up to 50% load is about 21-22dB, but from there it shoots up to almost 40dB at 100% load.

Wiring

The Smart BG11 RGB power supply has flat cables for more efficient management. These cables as well as the connectors are completely black. As it is not modular, we must carry out good cable management to prevent them from influencing the airflow.

Internally

The power supply, despite being quite inexpensive, offers us good internal characteristics. They offer a very interesting power supply electronically. We can see that all voltage regulation transistors, capacitors, transformers and coils are well arranged and separated.

We see two large dissipators in contact with the voltage regulators very well located in the central area. These are nicely positioned under the fan for efficient cooling. Even stand out the outgoing cables to power the components have two flanges for proper management.

The work done to offer the cleanest possible design must be highlighted. This allows all components to be very well refrigerated. It facilitates the movement of air, which will allow it to reach all the elements.

Indeed, the main condenser is Japanese and is of great power, specifically a Nichicon. One of the most prestigious brands of capacitors in the industry and therefore offers great reliability.

Conclusion

La Thermaltake Smart BX1 RGB 750W power supply It gives us a good solution between quality and price. It is not one of the best solutions on the market, but it has very interesting elements. Flat cables that allow improved management, since it does not offer modularity. We also liked that internally the circuitry is clean, allowing it to cool easily.

It is far from being a high-quality power supply, all said. You can blame the issue of wiring, but most modern chassis already have trim that would hide them. What we didn't like is the fan. It does not have 0dB technology, for when the load is low and the RGB is limited, based on a back button. For about € 76, which is what it costs, there are more interesting solutions, really.
