Every time we value the silence and the levels of our PC more and more, and the fans are usually by far the element that makes the most noise. But with something you have to dissipate heat from the CPU and at the same time be silent. That's what the silent heatsinks are for, such as the Noctua NH-P1 Passive Heatsink heatsink of which we make this Review today.
We are grateful to Noctua for allowing us to review this product.

Unboxing
Front view of the Noctua NH-P1 Passive Heatsink box showing the features it offers us.
Isometric look at the Noctua heatsink case.
We open the box and we find a second container box with the assembly kit. At the top we are advised that the box has the entire mounting kit, with tools, and adapters depending on whether the CPU is from Intel or if it is from AMD.
This is what we find inside the mounting kit box. Comes with envelopes with common mounting hardware, dedicated screwdriver, and envelopes with the necessary parts to mount the passive heatsink according to our CPU brand.
This envelope contains the parts to mount the heatsink on an AMD CPU.
We open the box that contains the heatsink and we find the part in question. With this photo we appreciate the enormous size that it has compared to more moderate heatsinks that depend on fans or hybrid heatsinks.
The part that connects the heatsink to the CPU is protected with a plastic part to prevent possible damage in transit.
Design
Once the Noctua NH-P1 Passive Heatsink is removed from its caka, we put it on the table. We appreciate its structure with several plates in parallel, and that its asymmetrical design means that you can rotate it to adapt it to the space that best fits its size inside the PC case.
Look at one side of the heatsink.
The plate supports, attached to the board that connects to the GPU.
The heatsink leaves plenty of space between heatsink plates for air to flow between them and not heat each other.
The connector with the CPU has its parts to ensure that it has been hooked to the motherboard and makes contact.

Experience with the Noctua NH-P1 Passive Heatsink and conclusion
We have put the heatsink to the test by installing it in a set that will be tested in benchmarks, and calculating its temperature and the noise it ends up generating. From the outset, we cannot stop emphasizing its weight and size. For the heatsink to really be quiet and dissipate the heat of a CPU, it requires it to be exceptionally large and that translates to its weight.
Because it is exceptionally heavy, we cannot recommend it for cases that have their motherboard vertically as it may end up falling or damaging the motherboard. Also its size means that we cannot recommend it in small cases such as mini ATX, because it may not have space due to other parts such as the graphics card or the case's own fans.
It is not a heatsink that we can recommend more than to enthusiasts with large boxes, without having to be precisely a Hummer. But its effectiveness is undeniable. In the benchmarks that we have put to the test to test the heat dissipation of the Noctua NH-P1 passive heatsink, we have not seen that the temperature of the CPUs comes close to dangerous points where it could be damaged. Nor have we noticed that by itself it makes a lot of noise.
It seems like a trifle, but the noise from the larger fans can cause annoyance in shared spaces or simply in home computers, such as a gaming computer playing a very demanding game. The other negative point that we see of the heatsink is its high price that makes it something for the demanding. We do not discourage your purchase and we do not stop recommending it, but we limit its recommendation to enthusiasts who highly value their own silence or to companies with large teams that do not want the team to make noise in the workplace.
- The box includes the complete mounting kit for both AMD and Intel CPUs.
- Too quiet.
- The heat dissipation is excellent.
- It is very large and heavy, so it is not recommended for small boxes or vertical plates.
- Its price is somewhat high.
