FR-TEC Aizen - Review

One of the most important peripherals when it comes to gaming is headphones. These must offer us good sound quality and have a microphone that allows us to communicate. FR-TEC has given us some FR-TEC Aizen, high-quality gaming headphones designed for the most Gaming foodies. They are characterized by having extremely large atria and a very comfortable headband.

Something that we also liked a lot is that the base connector is a 4-pole jack. This encompasses right sound, left sound, power, and microphone. But an adapter is incorporated that separates the microphone from the headphones, in case the device to which we connect them does not have this type of connection.

What is a gaming headset?

Within the world of headphones we can find a great variety of them, either in shape or in type of connection. Gaming headsets differ in construction and because they all have a microphone. We have to bear in mind that the use of these headphones is very different from listening to music or watching a movie.

One of the most interesting features is that gaming headphones are designed to be abused. This means that they will be developed to be more resistant, since they can be exposed to blows. It is usually common for a blow to fall due to a bad game or in transport, if we go to the party.

It is for this reason that they usually offer a high-quality construction that is sufficiently solid. In addition to being rigid, the headband must be perfectly padded to offer great comfort. Although some may be wireless, those with cable must be flexible and robust, to avoid damage, many even have a mesh that, in addition to being aesthetic, protects the PVC that covers the copper wires.

The last element to highlight is the microphone. Any gaming headset worth its salt should have one of these, which can be fixed, it can be flexible and adaptable. Some models even offer the ability to remove the microphone, allowing the headset to be used for other functions.

Aspects to consider

  • Sensitivity: Headphone response to an input signal that is measured in decibels per milliwatt (dB / mW). These offer us a ratio of sound power that the integrated speaker can reproduce for each milliwatt of electrical power. Note that the sensitivity of 80dB upwards can cause discomfort in our ear and damage it with a long exposure. Sensitivity greater than 140dB can damage the eardrum
  • Impedance: It is the electrical resistivity of the speakers and is measured in Ohms (Ω). Impedance is the opposition of the speakers to the passage of the current that carries the sound signal. The lower the impedance, the higher the signal strength and therefore the higher the playback volume. Speakers usually have an impedance of 16Ω, 24Ω and 32Ω
  • Frequency range: Sound is basically an electromagnetic wave that depends on frequency. Bass sounds have a smaller ripple, therefore the frequency is low. High-pitched sounds have a very large ripple, therefore this frequency will be higher. The human ear is characterized by having an audible frequency spectrum that goes from 20Hz to 20kHz
  • Connector: It is not an element that influences too much when it comes to sound quality, but it does have a great importance. The common standard for gaming headsets is the 3.5mm jack connector. We can also find gaming headphones that work via USB.

Introduction FR-TEC Aizen

The presentation of these headphones draws our attention. The FR-TEC Aizen box is white and shows us a giant image of the helmets it houses. This cover hides a completely red box that is easily removed thanks to the fabric strip on the top. This element that seems trivial is not the least, since it allows you to remove the product box with ease.

Inside the red box (there are no chocolates) are the gaming headphones themselves. Inside the box we will find the headset, the 4-pole jack adapter to sound input jack and microphone jack. Additionally we will find a small manual. There is nothing more and it is that not much more is needed.

The first thing that strikes us just taking them out is that the headband is really comfortable and fluffy. The atria are gigantic and have a 2 centimeter synthetic leather padding. When you put them on you feel great comfort and they do not tighten excessively, in this aspect possibly the best we have tested.

One thing that has blown us away is the level of loudness isolation. These gaming headphones offer a great seal, thus greatly isolating us from our environment. The internal space of the padding is gigantic and allows the ear to enter fully, which improves the humor. Inside, we are struck by the fact that we will find Aizen's kanji logo printed in white.

And it is that FR-TEC Aizen or rather, the name of these helmets in kanji is everywhere. It appears on the box a few times, it is printed on the outside of the atria, behind a grid and on the headband.

Aizen represents the Japanese divinity of love and is venerated by cantes and musicians, having an unfriendly appearance, although he is usually generous with humans.

FR-TEC Aizen Features

These FR-TEC Aizen headphones are characterized by offering quite interesting features. The first is the microphone, which is flexible and unidirectional. It carries a small sponge (for whatever reason it was not in our model) and offers ambient sound cancellation. The latter is designed for the impacts of the environment or to prevent our breath from straining. We can remove the microphone after turning it 45 degrees and pulling it, becoming a headset without more.

The speakers have an impedance of 32Ω and have a response range between 10Hz and 20kHz. Unfortunately we have not found data regarding the sensitivity, although it has seemed quite low for our taste.

The twisted cable that hangs from the left earphone is 1.2 meters long and terminates in a 4-pole jack connector. This connector is designed for consoles and smartphones, although for PC it has an adapter that separates the microphone from the sound input.

Inside the braided cable we find a simple controller. This allows us to raise or lower the volume, although since the headphones are heard low, we have raised it to the maximum. It also has a switch to mute the microphone, a very useful element. About this simple controller say that it does not have a clamp and that makes it terribly uncomfortable. It even clips onto the armrest of the chair.

Conclusion FR-TEC Aizen

FR-TEC Aizen is a gaming headset that offers us very interesting features for a tight price range. We really liked that the headband and the atria are so comfortable and that is that after hours and hours of uninterrupted music and gaming, your ears do not get tired, something common in most gaming headphones. This is because the atria are gigantic.

This FR-TEC Aizen gaming headset has good elements, such as the design, interesting features such as the jack adapter and the volume control. But at the same time it has elements in which it lacks a lot. The sound power is really low and you have to turn up the volume between 15-20 points compared to other headphones that we have.

FR-TECH Aizen

The controller in the cable is very poorly thought out. For the power offered by these headphones, clearly this element is unnecessary, since in our case we have left it to the maximum. It is a success to mute the microphone, but putting it in an atrium would have been left over. We did not like that it does not have a clamp and is that it hooks us with the armrest of the chair and is very uncomfortable.

Another element that is weak is the microphone. The sound quality is good, optimal for a gaming headset. The problem is that it is very short and does not hold in the position we would like. It tends to be somewhere between the original position and the one we would like and is a nuisance. We also do not like that they have forgotten the meshing, since it breaks the aesthetics. That it can be withdrawn is a plus point.
