Unboxing Krom Kritic

This is a solution, above all, for those who are starting in the world of video games. This Krom Kritic set is presented in a box with a handle, in the purest briefcase style, which greatly facilitates transport. The front of the box shows us all the components that we will find inside it. We can read on one of the sides:

  • Membrane keyboard with dedicated multimedia buttons.
  • RGB lighting effect on all peripherals (not on the mat).
  • Comfortable headphones with memory foam.
  • Perfect combination of mouse and pad for greater precision.

We have in the back a small summary of what we will find inside this kit. In addition to the peripherals, we find a quick installation guide inside the box. The peripherals contained in the box are:

  • Krom Kyra keyboard
  • Krom Kappa headphones
  • Krom Keos Mouse

Krom Kyra keyboard

The keyboard of this kit is the Krom Kyra, a simple solution designed for those who are new to the world of video games. It has a matte black plastic chassis with a somewhat rough finish that is also present in the keycaps of the switches. In addition, it has a wrist rest that resembles a ramp and has an embossed honeycomb design.

We see with the front ends with inward curved beveled edges. It has symmetrical lines, although in the central area it has a larger surface that narrows towards the ends of the keyboard. There are three trapezoidal bas-reliefs that are not textured in the lower area.

We have at the top the typical multimedia hotkeys. Ten multimedia keys have been arranged, especially suitable for sound management.

The sides of this keyboard are in beveled format with five discrete stripes. These stripes are decorative and have the property of being illuminated by means of the RGB backlighting system.

Keyboard switches

It has keycaps made of ABS that are relatively rough. Below we find the mecha-membrane switches, a hybrid solution that implies a high profile of the keys. This keyboard has a full Spanish layout.

For screen printing, the highlighted Sans Serif typeface has been chosen, which offers good reading. Something quite curious is that these letters would not be white, but would have a gray touch. These letters are placed by thermal stamping, hence a slight outline can be seen.

It has ten multimedia keys at the top with screen-printed symbols, with a simple finish. These keys have different thicknesses, adapting above all to functionality criteria.

Keyboard lighting

For this keyboard a functional RGB lighting system has been arranged from the keyboard itself. No software installation is required for its management. Next to the Fn key there is a button with a symbol that looks like it is the lighting one. The lighting has three static positions or a breathing mode function.

It is possible to modify the intensity as well as the speed and illumination and the color rotation using the 'WASD' keys. For gaming mode, the Windows key can be locked.

Krom Keos Mouse

Having a mouse designed for gaming is something quite important, that's why this Krom Kritic kit has a mouse, which although it is simple, is quite comfortable. This mouse has a pretty good ergonomic design and is based on a wired connection system. This mouse has a matte finish with a rubber-like feel to offer excellent grip.

The sides have a hollow pattern with relief that seeks to offer good support. We can see a partial alloy on the left to support the thumb and a protrusion with volume on the left to support our ring finger.

Something curious about this mouse is that the curvature of its hump moves slightly backwards with respect to the center of the mouse. This design is made to favor a palm-like grip, with little lift. We can see the Krom logo at the end of the mouse.

We see five pads at the bottom to improve the glide, which are mostly quite small. We can also see that the cable has a rubber reinforcement that gives it an even more solid finish.

Switches and buttons

krom kritic mouse gaming overview

It has the M1 and M2 buttons that are independent, despite being a single central piece. They offer a lot of sound and solidity when pressed. This mouse also offers six DPI points by default, which are: 800, 1600, 2400, 3200, 4800 and 6400

We have in the central area the scroll and two buttons for the control of the DPI and lighting. The wheel on the sides has a smooth non-slip rubber cover, it would be better if these were ridged. It offers a smooth and fluid movement with very little resistance and low noise.

The auxiliary switches M4 and M5 located on the left side of the mouse protrude noticeably from the mouse frame. They are easy to distinguish but are too small in thickness with quite loud pulsations. These keys do not sink into the frame, but instead do a 'glide' function.

Krom Kappa headphones

krom kritic gaming headphones overview

These headphones are very light as they are made entirely of black plastic with matt and glossy finishes. We can see the company logo on both sides of the headset along with a white ring that surrounds it. These zones and the microphone have RGB lighting.

The 50mm drivers have a cloth part that is attached to the pads. These, like the plush covering, have a feel similar to leatherette with a sponge filling. They don't look like they are removable.

The left earphone integrates the connection cable, the microphone and the integrated volume control. No built-in quick fix to mute the microphone

krom kritic rgb gaming headset

A microphone that is omni-directional with a blue activity LED on the end. It has a structure of spiral steel rod covered by rubber that gives it resistance and good appearance. It measures approximately 9 inches with a fairly sturdy headphone jack, but is not removable.

These headphones have a rubber-lined cable length of 210cm. It ends in two jack connectors for sound output and microphone input and USB cable for RGB lighting.

It has a rotating RGB pattern on the sides in various colors. This is illuminated with gradients, thus generating a multicolored presence. It has no software control, so the loop is always the same.

Krom Knout Speed mouse pad

As a last element we have the Krom Kritic set we have the mat. It is a mat with a finish equal to the company's reference version. The big difference lies in the detail of the logo, which in this case is white instead of corporate orange.

It has dimensions of 320x270x3mm and a fabric finish with a particularly non-slip bottom area. The edges are finished with double stitching, something that will avoid damage with use or washing.

It is quite curious that the fabric has a touch reminiscent of neoprene, due to a certain roughness or resistance to the sliding of the mouse.
