We always say that a good chassis can last us many years and accompany us in many configurations. The dimensions of power supplies and motherboards (as well as other components) are standardized. For a tower to accompany us in different configurations, an important quality of materials is required. Antec knows that developing a quality chassis is important and that is why they created the Antec P6 Performance. We are talking about a robust and high quality box that can house any component that we find on the market.
GENERAL FEATURES
Perhaps the most important aspect of any chassis worth its salt are the materials chosen for its construction. If the steel is thin the chassis will be quite flimsy and will be more prone to damage. Plastic, despite being a widely used material, degrades over time and is easy to break. With this in mind Antec has chosen 0.6mm thick SGCC steel to give the chassis robustness. It is complemented by a plastic front, to give it a more personalized finish. Additionally, it has a 4mm thick tempered glass left side panel.
Regarding the dimensions of this chassis, it measures 405mm high, 470mm long and 200mm wide. They are perfect dimensions, considering that this chassis has been developed for micro-ATX motherboards or smaller. In its design, the area of the power supply and the motherboards has also been isolated, something that is already becoming common in modern chassis.
REFRIGERATION
A chassis, to be considered quality must contain space for fans and liquid cooling systems. The Antec P6 Performance has three zones to install fans and two with compatibility for liquid cooling radiators.
The first area to install fans is the front, which has space for two 120mm or two 140mm fans, depending on user preferences. The upper area supports two 140mm fans or three 120mm fans. Finally, the rear area has space for only a 120mm fan.
As more and more users seek to install liquid cooling, be it AIO or Custom, it is also compatible with these systems. The front is capable of supporting an RL of up to 240mm. On the other hand, the rear area has support for a 120mm radiator. Radiators are not contemplated in the upper area because they would touch the motherboard.
Something that users demand more and more are filters against dust. The Antec P6 Performance chassis has a filter in the upper area and another in the front area. It allows you to catch dust and clean it easily. Additionally, it has a filter in the area of the power supply.
INTERNALLY
The chassis internally supports micro-ATX and mini-ITX motherboards exclusively. Furthermore, this chassis supports heatsinks with a maximum length of 160mm. It supports graphics up to 390mm long and has a gap between the motherboard and the left panel of 20mm. Finally note that it supports power supplies up to 160mm if the hard drive bay is not removed.
Ante P6 Performance has space for four 2.5-inch SSDs spread across the chassis. It has a mobile bay for drives of 3.5 inches or 2.5 inches, as we need. The latter can be easily removed and leaves more space for the power supply.
Being a very compact chassis it only has four PCI bays, but no more is needed, since it only supports micro-ATX motherboards.
CONNECTIVITY
This Antec P6 Performance is quite minimalist and carries the essential elements that may be needed in a chassis. It does not have a fan controller or superfluous elements. It only has the power and reset button, two USB 3.0 ports to connect memory units and any peripheral that is provided and a jack connector, one for sound input and the other for sound output.
CONCLUSION
About the Antec P6 Performance chassis we must say that it is a very compact chassis, thinking for those who want a great gaming equipment in very small dimensions. It is a high quality solution with an attractive design. Something that has caught our attention is that the Antec logo is projected on the table in white.
Antec, as always, has thought of designing a solution with quality materials and with a small nod to modularity. No detail has been spared and the final configuration has been sought to be as clean as possible.
