Review: Gamdias Hermes P3 RGB gaming keyboard

We take a good review of the Gamdias Hermes P3 RGB gaming keyboard, which we have analyzed in depth and to which we have found some virtues and some things that we have not liked so much.

Choosing a good keyboard is a fundamental peripheral, not only for gaming, but for other tasks, such as typing, when we talk with friends, surf or write. We have received the Gamdias Hermes P3 RGB, a high-quality gaming keyboard, with a compact design, which offers different lighting effects and has independent RGB LED lighting on each of the keys, as well as some additional functions, essential today in day on any keyboard worth its salt.

We begin the tour of the box, which is the element that protects it during transport and that must house the keyboard, as well as other elements that can be implemented. The Gamdias Hermes P3 RGB arrives in a box, where we can see on the front, the keyboard, with the most outstanding features. If we look at the rear, we can see the features and performance of this mechanical keyboard on the rear and the different models of mechanical switches on offer. To prevent this keyboard from being too tall, low profile mechanical keys have been installed.

The keyboard has been protected with a bag, to protect it and in addition, some corner pieces have been installed, to prevent the keyboard from being damaged during transport. Internally we find a simple manual, the disc with the software and a specific clamp for this keyboard, which will allow the keys to be extracted, offering an optimized solution to remove the keys and clean the keyboard, if necessary.

The Gamdias Hermes P3 RGB, is characterized by having a sober design, but at the same highly elegant, with a surface, where the keys are, of brushed aluminum, although the body is made entirely of plastic. This keyboard has dimensions of 472x167x21mm, a minimum height due to the fact that it uses compact keys. The keyboard has a weight of 840 grams.

Something quite unusual, are the keys that are implemented in this keyboard, which are not normal. The keyboard has the letter Ñ, the cedilla and the enter, but the keyboard has a layout in English, something that is really rare and that can cause some errors in use. The function keys (FN) have double activation, allowing different functions to be carried out. The multimedia keys are the F2 / F3 / F5 / F6 / F7 / F8, while the F4 key allows the change of the WASD by the cursors, the F9 key offers a macro recording solution, while the F11 offers a blocking solution of keys. The system key allows us to configure various lighting effects.

Regarding the numeric keypad integrated in this keyboard, it allows you to configure the intensity of the lighting through four levels, configured at '8' and '2', in addition to allowing the regulation of the speed of movement of the lights.

This Gamdias Hermes P3 RGB has its own mechanical switches, the so-called Gamdias Low Profile Mechanical Switches, which have been developed by Gamdias itself, but in this case manufactured by Kailh. We can find them in different versions: black, linear type with greater activation force; blue, click type; brown, touch type; network, line type. They all have a 3mm travel and allow adapting according to the needs of each of the users.

This keyboard has two supports that allow the keyboard to be raised, with two rubber strips, to prevent the keyboard from moving. The two legs of raising the keyboard, allows to raise it a little. The cable that integrates this keyboard is of the meshed type, with a length of 1.5 meters and that at the end of it has a gold-plated USB port, to avoid oxidation and improve connectivity.

The most interesting features of this keyboard, in addition to the Low Profile keys, developed by Gamdias and produced by Kailh, are the N-Key Rollover technology, which are implemented in the 105 keys that this keyboard has and all the keys have support for a total of 50 million keystrokes, offering great durability.

To close the review of the Gamdias Hermes P3 RGB, let's go with the conclusions. It is not bad at all, in terms of quality and performance, but we have found several problems and defects, which should be taken into account. The main problem is the hybrid configuration between Spanish and English, something we have never seen before. The plastic frame in the frame, for a keyboard that is around € 130, is a rather weak point. Perhaps the two most interesting aspects are the Gamdias own keys produced by Kailh and the RGB LED lighting
