Noctua NT-H2 - Review

Possibly the least attention can be paid in any setup is thermal paste. Although it is necessary for the proper functioning of the equipment, it is usually the great forgotten by all. This compound sits between the CPU IHS and the base of the heatsink and serves to fill in imperfections on both sides. Noctua has launched NT-H2 thermal paste, an update of its legendary NT-H1 thermoconductive compound. This new compound comes in 3.5 gram and 10 gram sizes and includes NA-SCW1 wipes.

Unboxing Noctua NT-H2

This new thermal paste from the company comes in two sizes, a 3.5 gram syringe and a 10 gram syringe. Both syringes contain the same new generation heat conductive compound. It can be seen that both boxes are completely the same, it changes the size a little due to the amount of compound.

For both cases, inside the box we find the Noctua NT-H2 thermal paste and NA-SCW1 wipe. The only difference between the two is that the 3.5 gram syringe incorporates three wipes and the 10 gram syringe incorporates 10 wipes. Otherwise there is no difference.
Noctua NT-H2 design

The new Noctua NT-H2 thermal paste features a mixture of microparticles to obtain better heat transfer capacity and reduce the thickness of the composite layer. Through these two elements, it is possible to improve the final performance.
As with NT-H1, this compound is not a conductor of electricity and is resistant to corrosion. In addition, it has a resistance in the syringe of 3 years and offers a durability on the CPU of up to 5 years, always in the latter case, depending on the use.

Regarding the NA-SCW1 wipes, indicate that they are very practical to clean the applied thermal compound. They work very well and have a very smooth texture. We do not know what type of detergent has been used, but with one pass we can leave the processor and the bottom of the heatsink completely clean.

Conclusion
Noctua NT-H2 thermal paste offers an improvement in the heat transfer with respect to NT-H1. It should be noted that the difference is around 1-3ºC, which is not much, but everything counts. Getting better heat transfer in the end means getting better processor performance. This thermally conductive compound combined with a good heatsink is an excellent solution.
If we choose the 3.5 gram syringe, we can make between 3 and 20 applications, depending on the type of processor. The 10 gram syringe offers us between 9 applications and 60 applications. Of course, in both cases we talk about a large number of applications. In addition, the 3.5 gram one incorporates 3 cleaning wipes and the 10 gram one incorporates 10 cleaning wipes. It's a great pack.
- Very good heat transfer
- Include some NA-SCW1 wipes
- Available in 3.5 gram and 10 gram sizes
- The application with the syringe is very simple
- Up to 5 years of life of this thermal compound once applied (depending on CPU usage)
- It has a price perhaps too high
