Review: NZXT HUE + Lighting Control
The popularization of computer case lighting using LEDs. We can choose lighting using LEDs of a certain color or we can choose RGB. This level of customization is being carried to all devices, not only to the LED strips for the chassis, we also find fans, liquid cooling systems, motherboards, RAM memory and graphics cards. ASUS, Gigabyte or MSI have their own technologies to control and synchronize the lighting, but for those who do not have one of these motherboards, NZXT has developed the NZXT HUE +, to control the LED strips and fans.
NZXT HUE + will allow us to fully illuminate our chassis. This is a solution for lighting that allows us total control through a fairly intuitive software with a large number of options for lighting, making it truly versatile and customizable. It also has a reactive lighting mode, which is smart and has built-in overlay functionality. By configuring it in this way we can synchronize it with the variable conditions of our equipment and that it lights up according to certain conditions.
The NZXT HUE + allows through the software the total customization of the lighting according to the state of our equipment. We can customize the lighting of the fans or the LEDs, so that it changes color according to the temperature of the processor or the graphics card or both, dividing the lighting by zones. Thanks to this system, we can have greater control of our equipment and know what the temperature of the system is.
CAM is the control software used to carry out all lighting controls, which allows light effects to be carried out very quickly and easily. We can switch between modes with just a mouse click and total customization according to our tastes. The NZXT software is highly customizable and easy to use, as well as being able to customize it with the entire RGB color palette of 16.8 million colors.
HUE + allows for countless customizations, featuring eight lighting effects with advanced customization options. This lighting device allows a double lighting output, where we can attach four strips of LEDs, being able to customize in four different modes, one fixed, the traditional breathing mode, a brand mode that moves the color from one corner to the other and a spectrum mode that allows color change, similar to career mode. A very interesting mode of the NZXT HUE + is the music display. This system allows you to adapt the lighting to the rhythm of the music, with which we have a very fun effect, especially for parties.
Regarding the connection ports, this has a five-volt connector, which is an adaptation of a molex for its connector, which is cylindrical. It has a microUSB connector that is directly connected to the USB port of the motherboard, something very practical, since we do not have to take the cable out to connect it or need a specific USB port internally. To connect devices, it has two connectors, which allow you to connect four NZXT LED strips or two NZXT RGB fans.
The set in question incorporates four LED strips and two connection connectors. We can choose two options, connect the four strips in one port or two and two, to divide the lighting into two completely different areas. The RGB LED strips, in addition, can be glued to the chassis with a built-in 3M adhesive tape, which allows us to fully hold or place them using the images attached to the chassis, as long as it is not plastic, which logically the magnets will not work.
We find it a very interesting product that can be attached to 2.5 "and 3.5" bays. Due to its dimensions, in some cases it cannot be installed due to the dimensions of the product, if the bays are very tight. Except for this, it is a high quality product, an interesting solution for the control and management of lighting, which together with the CAM lighting management software, we have a perfect system for lighting the equipment.
