Review: Corsair HD120 LED RGB fans

We looked at Corsair HD120 LED RGB fans, which offer high air pressure with powerful RGB LED lighting using high-brightness SMD LEDs.

The fans are no longer just that functional element that had the characteristic of introducing air into our chassis or helping our cooler to dissipate the heat generated by the processor. Corsair has raised cooling to new levels, in this case we will talk about the Corsair HD120 LED RGB fan, which has a size of 120mm. This fan has the characteristic of being a high-performance fan with a great air flow, along with no less than a dozen RGB LEDs.

Corsair has developed a high-quality, robust, high-density fan with blades and a design that allows for high-quality lighting. This corner fan has rubber elements, which have been placed to minimize vibrations and allow a great fit when bolting to the chassis. The frame also has a special design, developed and thought for air circulation and thus obtain a large air flow.

These Corsair HD120 LED RGB include a remote with three buttons, which are used to control the lighting of the fans, which also allows different lighting effects, such as fade, flicker, pulsation and other LED lighting systems. This remote control has an extension system, designed for fans of modding, which allows it to be connected to push buttons integrated in the chassis and controlled from the outside.

Regarding the LEDs, this fan has twelve RGB LED fans in high luminosity SMD format, which allows total customization, in addition to the controllable and adjustable effects using the controller buttons. High-brightness RGB LEDs are of great quality, so much so that these LEDs, depending on the color chosen, are capable of illuminating the entire room, something that we have been able to verify.

We move on to the technical part. This fan is of the PWM type, moving in a range of 800-1725RPM, therefore the fan will work at different speeds, according to the needs of the moment. It has a high static pressure, which is 2.25mmHO, which is a high level, but, despite that, the noise level of the fan is very low, since the fan blades are extremely thin, which reduces vibrations, noise and turbulence.

We have highlighted that the fan works between 800-1725RPM, so the sound level will vary according to the power of it. The fan, working at 800RPM with a minimum noise level in this case of 18dBA, while if this fan works at 1725RPM, the fan should emit a maximum of 30dBA. Keep in mind that this is ideal conditions, as dust affects these parameters.

The Corsair HD120 LED RGB have an air flow of 54.4CFM, with a hydraulic type bearing, a quality system, which has as a characteristic, the reduction of loudness to the maximum and guarantees the durability of the fan. This fan has a variation in the voltage according to the RPM, therefore at minimum speed it has a voltage of approximately 7V, while at maximum speed, the fan consumes approximately 13.2V.

We have received from Corsair the pack of three units, with the controller and the adapter cable, for external connection by modding. It has a connection hub powered by a SATA power connector. The necessary screws to screw these fans to the chassis are also incorporated.

After having these fans, honestly, we have been amazed that one of these can illuminate an entire room, which is possible thanks to the high luminosity RGB LEDs, which combined with high-refractive blades, which enhance the dispersion of the light. All three assets require sunglasses. We did not particularly like the fan control knob, since currently, USB-controlled solutions are opted for, which allow a much easier and more comfortable adjustment, although of course, the problem with these things is having to install software.

What we liked the most is that it has a high quality frame, very robust with rubber corners, to adjust to the maximum and avoid vibrations. The lighting of the Corsair HD120 LED RGB is brutal, something that has surprised us a lot. They are highly recommended, as the airflow is extremely powerful, with a very robust frame. Those looking for high-quality fans, with good air flow and powerful lighting.
