Graphics Card POWERCOLOR RX 6600 XT Red Devil

PowerColor is one of the OEMs that has released a version of the AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT, under the name Red Devil. It is sold to us as a demonic version, by far RGB in red, from the high-end graphics card that AMD has launched for the demanding gamers market in 1080p. For those who want to improve their video quality but not so much its resolution.

We thank PowerColor for giving us the product for review.

Unboxing

The front of the box, with the red demon insignia that gives its name to this RX 600 XT model. We are already advised that it is fully prepared to move games to 1080P thanks to its 8 G DRAM and PCIe 4.0 connection. It boasts AMD's RDNA 2 architecture.

The back gives more details such as its Dual BIOS or the RGB that it has incorporated. Among the capabilities of this graphics are compatibility with DirtectX 12 Ultimate, AMD FreeSync, a Displayport 1.4 port with DSC along with an HDMi port, and the ability to output 8K video.

We open the box and we find the graphics card.

Design

This is what the POWERCOLOR RX 6600 XT Red Devil graphics card looks like mounted on the Aorus motherboard that we have and is compatible with its capabilities. You can see the red colors of the RGB that has been put to it so that it is visually appealing for enthusiasts who have a case with a transparent side.

The RGB of the Red devil seen from another side. The color red reigns supreme on this graphics card.

From the other side, you can see the red demon insignia of the POWERCOLOR RX 6600 XT Red Devil graphics card, of course, in red.

The video outputs of the card in which more than one HDMI video output is appreciated along with a Display Port for the larger monitors.

Outside of the motherboard, this is what the POWERCOLOR RX 6600 XT Red Devil graphics card looks like if the bright color dominates over it. Completely black and smooth except for the Red Devil and PowerColor logos.

From this side you can see the thickness of this card with two PCIe ports.

POWERCOLOR RX 6600 XT Red Devil GPU Benchmark

While the graphics card impresses visually, which is something that those who have the right box will be able to enjoy, what matters to us when it comes to having a new graphics card is whether it is going to be noticeably better than the one we already have. We have put the POWERCOLOR RX 6600 XT Red Devil graphics card to the test with several benchmarks and games that have it to know in what range of potential

With 3DMark FirStrike, the RX 6600 XT achieves a score of 6405 in 4k and a score of 20950 in 1080p, which makes it clear that while it is possible to play games in 4K with this card, it is more intended for 1080p.

In the case of Bioshock Inifnite, it has given an average of 188,79 frames in its Benchmark. this leaves it as the third best graphics card we have tested with the game. Extrapolating, it's capable of moving consolture and hitting 120 frames to many games from the Xbox 360 and PS3 era, and even early PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

3D Mark Port Royal gives the POWERCOLOR RX 6600 XT Red Devil graphics card about 4405 points. It's midway between the RTX 2060 XS and the RTX 2070 OC. It leaves us as a very powerful card for demanding games in 1080p.

With Rise of the Tomb raider, the POWERCOLOR RX 6600 XT Red Devil graphics card reaches 97,47 frames in the demanding Ultra DX12 category, which far exceeds the coveted 60 frames per second for smooth game quality. Ultra DX11 hits 114 frames per second, and Ultra 1440p DX11 hits 122 frames per second. Even by slightly increasing the resolution, it reaches devilish speeds

In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, it doesn't make it to the top of the list. In Ultra DX 12 it does not reach 60 frames per second, but in the other two configurations, it exceeds them with some comfort.

Finally, the Unigine Heaven benchmark leaves the POWERCOLOR RX 6600 XT Red Devil graphics card among the best we have been able to test. At least it's better than average and rubs shoulders with other high-end cards like the RTX 2070 SUPER.

2922 points in FullHD Ultra, and 1800 points in 144p.

POWERCOLOR RX 6600 XT Red Devil Graphics Card Conclusion

The POWERCOLOR RX 6600 XT Red Devil graphics card has surprised us greatly with its ability to play 1080p games. Several benchmarks have shown us that it is easily a card to trust if we want to renew our card to one without going to those that are more designed for 4k resolution.

It has positioned itself above average in our benchmark lists, and it has not performed badly. We have had to resort to benchmarks in much higher resolution and there it already started to drop below 60 FPS. But in games there have been none that have not given good results of more than sixty frames per second.

Its main problem is one that has all components, especially graphics card today: its price is high and does not seem to be going down anytime soon. Sure, it's a high-end graphics card, but while we highly recommend its purchase by enthusiasts and gamers, we think it's possible to wait for prices to stabilize.

  • No 1080p game can stand up to you.
  • It is beautiful, although it is only noticeable when installed in a box with a transparent panel.
  • Its current price and we do not think it will go down anytime soon.
