Unboxing Cougar Deathfire EX
The box on the front panel shows us the keyboard with RGB lighting and the mouse also illuminated. As we see it is the typical keyboard box, a little bigger in this case to accommodate the mouse. There is little else to highlight about the box on the front, really.
If we go to the back, here we find some data that is already more interesting. The first is that the keyboard has a series of predefined profiles in terms of RGB lighting. As always, these profiles severely limit the RGB capability of the keyboard. In addition, we also see the characteristics of the mouse, which is quite simple and has static RGB colors.
Inside the box we find just enough. The keyboard, the mouse and a simple manual. Nor is much more necessary. As a detail, indicate that it would be good to start replacing plastic with other more biodegradable materials.

Keyboard
Let's start with the keyboard in this kit. The truth is that the keyboard has nothing special, it is quite simple. Perhaps the most remarkable thing is that it has an RGB border around it that is very striking and aesthetic. The color of this area is the same as that of the keys, of course.
We have before us a fairly simple and clean keyboard, something that may be good for casual gamers or those who are entering the world of video games. It is made entirely of plastic, although this keyboard has a brushed aluminum finish. The finish is quite elegant and modern, but it is still plastic.
The keys in this case are hybrid. This design is really nothing more than using membrane-type keys with a housing that mimics mechanical switches. The feeling of use is quite similar to mechanical switches but they are actually membrane type. In addition, RGB lighting has been added to them.
Mouse
The keyboard is quite simple and has few notable features, but the mouse is even simpler. Perhaps the most remarkable thing about this mouse is that it is ambidextrous, something that is usually not very abundant. It should be noted that the scroll and the Cougar logo are backlit, giving this mouse a special touch.
There are two buttons on the left side that have a navigation purpose. Furthermore, in this left area (as well as in the right) a textured rubber has been arranged. Note that in the right area there are no additional buttons.
The upper area of the mouse has the scroll which is textured, to prevent it from slipping. Below the scroll we find a button, which would normally be for the DPI, but it is not the case. This button is simply used to change the lighting effects and the mouse color.
To change the DPI, we have to turn the mouse over. We find below with four DPI settings that are 500DPI, 1000DPI, 1500DPI and 2000DPI, adjustable by means of a lever. In addition we also find the Polling Rate that can be 125, 250, 500 and 1000.
Features Cougar Deathfire EX
The Cougar Deathfire EX set is quite simple and does not have much to highlight. On the keyboard, at most, the one with RGB quick access by keys. In addition, it has Anti-Ghosting on all the keys, something that is certainly appreciated. Otherwise, it is a simple keyboard.
Regarding the mouse, there is not much to highlight either. Cougar indicates that the Polling Rate and DPI can be changed 'on the fly' or what is the same, instantly. This is incorrect, as they are both modified from the bottom of the mouse and by levers. Come on, this is badly indicated, since if I have to lift the mouse, that instantly gets lost. On the other hand, it is indicated that it has OMRON switches, although it does not specify their durability.

Conclusion
This Cougar Deathfire EX keyboard and mouse combo is exactly what it is: a simple solution for casual gamers or young people just getting into video games. We don't expect anything fancy from this rather basic set. Perhaps the weakest part is the mouse, which is very basic, and having the DPI and polling rate displayed underneath seems a bit of a misstep.
