A few weeks ago we brought you the complete analysis of the Intel i3 7350K processors and we promised to bring a comparison of this processor with three graphics cards. The moment has come. We have used the i3 7350K with the KFA2 GTX 1060 OC 3GB GDDR5 graphics card, the KFA2 GTX 1080 EXOC 8GB GDDR5 graphics card and the ASUS AMD RX 480 8GB GDDR5 graphics card. Before entering the analysis and comparison of the results obtained, we will talk a little about these graphics cards, to know them a little better.
Table of Contents
KFA2 GTX 1060 OC 3GB GDDR5
This graphics card, like all GTX 1060s, has 1152 CUDA Cores, but unlike the standard one that works at a base frequency of 1506MHz and a Boost frequency of 1708MHz, this KFA2 is working at an improved frequency of 1518MHz and a Boost frequency of 1733MHz. The improvement is apparently small, but it offers slightly improved performance. This graphics card supports a maximum resolution of 7680 × 4320 @ 60Hz. It has a DVI-DL connector, a DisplayPort 1.4 port and an HDMI 2.0b port, supporting multi-monitor configurations, how could it be otherwise. It has a consumption of 120W and a maximum length of 228mm.
KFA2 GTX 1080 EXOC 8GB GDDR5
The most powerful of NVIDIA is the GTX 1080 and we wanted to see if the Intel i3 7350K processor that supports overclocking, we wanted to see if it supported a graphics of this size. The GTX 1080 has 2560 CUDA Cores, which as standard works at 1607MHz and reaches a frequency of 1733MHz in Boost mode, but the KFA2 version offers a base frequency of 1657MHz with a Boost frequency of 1797MHz. This graphics card has a total of 8GB GDDR5X. As a maximum resolution it supports 7680 × 4320 @ 60Hz and is accompanied by a DVI-DL port, three DisplayPort 1.4 connectors and an HDMI 2.0b connector. It has a maximum consumption of 180W and a maximum length of 266.7mm.
ASUS AMD RX 480 8GB GDDR5
AMD's most powerful graphics solution is the RX 480. This graphics card has 36 Compute Units and a total of 2304 Stream Processors, working at a base frequency of 1120MHz and a Boost mode of 1266MHz. Our graphics card is not upgraded by factory overclocking, so the frequencies of this graphics card have no variation. As video outputs, it has an HDMI port and three DisplayPort ports. Regarding consumption, this graphics card consumes 150W and has an approximate length of 240mm.
Processors
Regarding the performance tests, they were performed using the Intel i3 7350K and Intel i7 4770K processors. The i3 7350K is a 7th Generation processor manufactured using a 14nm process, featuring two cores and four threads. It has a base clock speed of 4.2GHz and no boost clock speed, and a TDP of 60W. The i7 4770K is a 4th Generation processor manufactured using a 22nm process, featuring four cores and eight threads. It has a base clock speed of 3.5GHz and a boost clock speed of 3.9GHz, and a TDP of 84W. For all tests, the processors were used at their base clock speeds, without modifying any parameters in either case.
The benchmarks
We must emphasize that neither the graphics cards nor the processors have been modified. The behavior of the i3 7350K, we must emphasize that it is surprising and has moved the powerful NVIDIA GTX 1080, relatively without problems. We have seen how the performance of the processor has been up to par, but the load on this processor was between 92-100%, which establishes a bottleneck, but still, the results have been excellent.
