How to install Pikmin Bloom?
For now, Pikmin Bloom is only available in all of America and some countries in Oceania and Asia. If you live in Spain, you can pre-register at the Google Play Store to let you know when it is available, just like in the Apple App Store.
On Android or if you have a jailbroken iPhone or iPad, you can install an APK or an application container respectively. This way you can play prematurely. It should be said that you may have to update the version of the application that you have and you will not have official support in the event that your application gives a problem.
How to play Pikmin Bloom
The basis of Pikmin Bloom is walking. It is a game more designed to be a motivator to go out and explore your surroundings to plant flowers and keep a journal of your travels. There is a certain collaborative component with other users so that you can see the flowers they have planted. Below we explain in detail each of the components of the game:
Seedlings
Pikmin seedlings can be placed in the seedlings in your backpack, transferring the energy from steps you take in real life to grow as you walk. Once they have reached the required number of steps, they can be started by sliding up.
It resembles the Pokémon GO egg system, but instead of focusing on distance traveled, it counts the steps and is much more generous. Steps are counted in the background even when the app is not open using minimal battery usage. Android users may need to install Google Fit if they don't already have it, and combine it with a smartwatch if they don't want to be with their mobile on all the time. You do not need to move from your location on the map to receive the steps. You can walk on site or on a treadmill.
Little by little you will unlock different types of seedlings as you level up. You can only have a maximum of 30 seedlings in reserve, but this number can be increased in the store.
Types of seedlings
- Red: 1.000 steps to grow
- Yellow: 1.000 steps to grow
- Blue: 1.000 steps to grow (Unlocks at Level 7)
- Purple: 3.000 steps to grow (Unlocks at Level 13)
- White: 3.000 steps to grow
- Pink (Flying): 5.000 steps to grow
- Gray (Rock): 5.000 steps to grow
- Huge (decoration): 10.000 steps to grow
Pikmin with Decoration
Decorated Pikmin are grown from huge seedlings and are Pikmin of whatever type you've unlocked so far that will carry decorations based on where you found the seedling. This is mostly for cosmetic purposes only, but they do have some differences in challenges.
If you touch your badges, you will be able to see all the different types of decorated Pikmin that you have obtained. There are currently 20 categories with between 7 and 14 different Pikmin in each one. You are more likely to get huge seedlings from places where you spend more time than from places where you have just been passing through.
Your Pikmin Squad
Click on the whistle icon on the main screen to view your squad of Pikmins. The amount of Pikmin you can have in your active squad will gradually increase as you level up. Here you can feed your squad with nectar to collect flower petals, you can collect the fruits that they have collected while walking, and collect the rewards of the Pikmin that have returned from an expedition.
The rest of your Pikmin can be seen by tapping on the Pikmin icon and their position in the squad can be changed as needed. If you blow the whistle twice to receive all the fruits and seedlings that your Pikmin carry.
You can store a total of 300 Pikmin in your backpack, not your active squad, but this can be expanded in the shop with coins. If you drop a Pikmin you will get 10 petals of the color of the flower they are currently blooming from,
Friendship with the Pikmin
Friendship with the Pikmin in your backpack and squad can range from 0 to 4 hearts, with each heart taking longer to arrive than the last. Friendship can be increased by feeding them nectar, using them in challenges and expeditions, or feeding them special nectar. Friendship makes them perform better in challenges and if they weren't a decorated Pikmin, when they reach the maximum they can go on a special expedition for a decorative object based on where their seedling has come from.
Petals and flowers
Get petals in Pikmin Bloom
Pikmin can have four possible flower colors depending on the color of nectar you feed them: white, red, blue or yellow. The most common nectar is white, followed by yellow, then red, and finally blue. The nectar is used to feed the Pikmin in the squad to grow the flower on their heads so that the petals can be collected. New Pikmin start with a leaf, and if they are fed a nectar it becomes a bud and then a flower, of a color that depends on the type of nectar we have given it.
When you walk a short distance, all the Pikmin in your platoon will go directly to the bud stage for free, saving you nectar. If you then feed them nectar after doing this, you will get 2 petals instead of 1, as compensation.
If the flower on your head is glowing it means that the petals can be collected by touching it. it will stop shining and you can give it more nectar so it can give more petals, until it is gone. Once he has nothing on top of his head, he will not want any more nectar and you will have to wait the next day until he retrieves a leaf on his head. The number of petals that can be collected per day from a Pikmin is six.
The easiest way to feed them is to simply hold the nextar and drag it on top of your platoon so that they will jump up to eat it. If you blow the whistle twice to exchange exhausted Pikmin for others from which you can still get petals.
If you need petals urgently, you can buy the four basic petal colors in the store, and sometimes special flower petals like tulip petals. It can only hold a maximum of 200 of each petal type initially, but can be expanded with real money in the store.
Planting flowers with petals
Once you unlock this feature, you can use your collected petals to plant flowers around you. This increases the number of waypoints you get while walking, allowing you to grow Pikmin faster. You start with a 10% increase, but the increase increases the larger the area of flowers you plant in a single session, with a maximum increase of 30%. You can also receive coins depending on how many flowers you have planted in a session, with approximately 1 coin for planting 500 flowers, at a maximum of 30 coins per day.
Planting flowers also increases the likelihood of finding new seedlings that can be collected on an expedition. By planting flowers around a large bud on the map, you are more likely to receive fruit the color of the flowers you plant.
Petals are consumed over time rather than actual steps, so about 2,5 petals are planted per minute. They do not depend on the actual area that you have covered by walking, so they are planted even when you are still. There is a recharge time of 5 minutes to plant flowers in the same place, so if we are out for a walk to plant flowers, the breaks should be up to five minutes to optimize planting.
Much like step counting in Pikmin Bloom, planting can be done in the background when the app is closed, and will automatically stop when the petals run out. It can also be stopped manually at any time. If you check the “Plant with Others” option, other players can be seen in real time on the map while you plant, and other players can see you, but this option is disabled by default. Flowers will persist on the map for a few days, but will persist longer around large buds.
Pikmin Bloom Fruits
There are two types of fruit in Pikmin Bloom: the small and the large, and then there are variations with the type of nectar they have. The small fruit can be collected by Pikmin while walking, and will give 1-3 units of nectar when collected. For its part, the largest fruit can only be collected by sending Pikmin on expeditions or exceeding, and will give more than 20 nectar when collected.
By touching the whistle twice you can collect all the fruits at once. You can only store a maximum of 200 nectar units initially, but can be expanded with real money in the store.
Map
Big buds
A reliable way to get large fruits is to plant flowers around large buds on the map, which are the same points as the PokéStops and Gyms in Pokémon GO. You will have to plant several flowers in the circular area that surrounds them and is marked on the map to make the flower grow and make it bloom. this is cumulative across all players, so you can get to a bud for the first time and see that it has fully blossomed.
You will have to walk through the area, since just passing in front is not enough. Any large bud that you have helped to flourish will produce fruit that you can collect on an expedition. Occasionally there are special events where certain colors are more likely to bloom large flowers.
It is also possible that a rare type of flower will bloom and produce a fruit that will give a special nectar to plant that flower yourself. We will know when it is a special fruit because it will shine. Currently, planting normal flowers has a chance to give pansy nectar, and planting pansies has a chance to produce rose nectar. Once you've planted about 60% of a large flower's total bloom requirement, the type of flower it will bloom is locked into so we can finish blooming it.
Detector
The detector can be used when the world map screen is displayed. It is used to find more objects in our area. It has a number of free daily uses and can be recharged for 100 coins to use again before it has been recharged. It is recommended to use it near a large outbreak in an area associated with a type of Pikmin with decoration (restaurant, cinema, etc.), and for this the detector will show an icon of what types of places are nearby before using it to know well what kind of objects can we find.
Expeditions in Pikmin Bloom
Expeditions are small missions that appear on the map screen. You can decide to send groups of Pikmin to collect fruits or seedlings from sprouts you've passed by. To use this feature you need to have reached level 5 and once you've unlocked it, tap on the map and slide your finger to the expeditions tab, or tap on "X items to collect" at the top of the home screen.
The number of Pikmin we can ship varies by item, and each one will have a minimum load capacity that it must meet. Normally Pikmin have a carrying capacity of 1, but Purple Pikmin have a carrying capacity of 5 and Roca has a carrying capacity of 3. The more you send, the faster we can retrieve them. The objects are recovered in real time going towards our position so if we move away from our current location, it will take more or less time to return to you depending on whether we move away or approach from the position in which the Pikmin are,
Sometimes we can receive a postcard with the object that our Pikmin have gone to collect. This is a picture of the location near where the fruit / seedling was found. We can send that postcard to our friends as a postcard.
Another expedition that can appear are the gifts when a Pikmin reaches the maximum friendship, which is four hearts. They will have to return to the place where they were born to collect it and once recovered they will become a Pikmin with decoration, and the gift obtained will vary depending on the type of place where they were born.
Challenges
Challenges are a feature of Pikmin Bloo that is unlocked around level 15. Once we have unlocked them, mushrooms can appear on the map that we can send a large number of Pikmin to defeat, and the number of Pikmin we can send increases as we level up. We can try a challenge about three times a day.
We will get a reward based on how quickly we break the mushrooms, and the score will be given to us with a range of zero to three stars. Mushrooms can be attacked by a group of up to four more people to go faster and get a better score. Mushrooms can be small, large, or giant; each one will give us more rewards but will make it harder to get all three stars, even with the help of others.
Some users have been experimenting and everything indicates that it is optimized by sending Pikmin the same color as the mushroom and if they have a decoration; and according to the friendship of the Pikmin that we send.
Level up in Pikmin Bloom
The progress of the game will be blocked by levels that we must achieve. Each level will ask us to fulfill two objectives, which can be of the following types:
- Grow a certain number of Pikmin.
- Grow a number of Pikmin of a certain type.
- Walk a certain number of steps in total.
- Plant a certain amount of flowers.
- Collect a certain amount of petals from the Pikmin.
- Complete a number of expeditions.
Some objectives are cumulative, mainly the objective of the total step count, so it will not be unusual for us to start a level having unlocked this condition. Rewards for leveling up include seedlings, unlocking new seedling types, expanding squad size, single-use disposable seedlings, and step tanks.
What is Pikmin Bloom's goal?
The game does not have any story or progression, beyond being an entertainment. Expect to be a companion on your daily walks and, like Pokémon Go; encourage you to go out more often, to take different routes, and to communicate with the people around you who also play.
