Guide to buying a 75-inch TV

We explain everything you must take into account when purchasing a 75-inch television, from dimensions to connectivity or audio

Currently you can convert your living room into a cinema for very little money. We can find large televisions on the market for quite affordable prices. In this article we are going to highlight what you should take into account when buying a 75-inch TV.

Introduction

Flat TVs have evolved over time. We have increasingly larger-format televisions on the market with better image quality. We are not only talking about 4K resolutions, but about other technologies to improve image quality such as HDR.

They have not only been adapted to offer better image quality, but they have also been adapted to gaming. Some models include support for technologies such as FreeSync from AMD or G-Sync from NVIDIA. This will allow us to play on television in a way not seen to date.

7-inch TV sizes

Before launching to buy a 75-inch TV you must take into account its measurements. These televisions are characterized by offering an aspect ratio of 16: 9, mostly.

The inches parameter refers to the diagonal length of the panel, let's go, from the lower left corner to the upper right corner. The 75 inches is equivalent to 190.5cm (yes, practically two meters).

As is logical, the diagonal is what will mark the dimensions of the television. Approximately we will have a length of 166cm and a height (not counting the base or the legs) of about 94cm. We must bear in mind that these measurements depend on the frames of the different manufacturers, so they can vary upwards, or what is the same, be longer and taller.

Forget about projectors

For a standard room, a projector is a pretty bad idea, especially because of the distances. A 75-inch TV requires about 2 meters of distance between the television and the sofa. For a projector we can go twice as far, always depending on the size of the panel.

But there are other parameters to take into account, such as:

  • Televisions offer better picture quality and have better picture quality technologies
  • A 4K resolution projector can be much more expensive than a 75-inch TV with the same resolution
  • The TV includes the function of accessing multimedia content such as YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.
  • Televisions have considerably better audio quality, but projectors mostly require additional speakers
  • The projectors have built-in fans to cool the lamps, which generates noise and tends to get worse with dust.
  • We must bear in mind that projector lamps have a limited useful life and are usually very expensive
  • A projector often requires little light to enter the room to provide the best image quality

Tips when choosing a 75-inch TV

  • Brand: One of the main aspects to take into account is to know who the manufacturer of the television is. The most recognized manufacturers are Sony, LG, Samsung and Philips, who have been in this market for many years and have great experience. We also have the companies TCL and Xiaomi that offer televisions of very good quality and adjusted price. Finally we have Hisense, an inexpensive manufacturer that tends to have certain shortcomings, especially in the technologies it supports.
  • Image resolution: Currently no 75-inch TV will offer less than 4K resolution. This resolution has been standardized in the market. We do not recommend a 75-inch 8K resolution SmartTV, mainly because they are very expensive.
  • Technologies that it supports: Any television of this size will offer us support for HDR 10 technology, so on this side we are covered. If you have other technologies that improve image quality, all the better.
  • Connectivity: DisplayPort, HDMI and USB 3.0 ports, is the minimum we can ask these televisions (and it is what they usually offer). Logically the greater the number of ports, the better the better.
  • Hardware: SmartTVs integrate components such as processor, RAM and ROM (storage), in addition to the ability to connect wirelessly. Normally the processor will have 4 cores, more than enough. Where a lot is usually adjusted is in the storage capacity, which is usually more than fair.
  • Sound: Here the truth is that there is very little to scratch. SmartTVs are characterized by being very flat and that limits integrating good sound quality. You will have no choice but to shell out extra money for a good quality and powerful soundbar.
  • Support: SmartTVs allow hanging on the wall without major problems. If we are going to have it on a piece of furniture, we must take into account the support base. A central base will be best, as it will require a shorter piece of furniture. In case of having two legs, we must know their length and have a longer piece of furniture.
