[EXCLUSIVE] Sale of AMD Ryzen processors in Spain (Q1 2019)

We see which have been the best-selling AMD Ryzen processors and other processors based on the Zen architecture in Spain.

We have been working for weeks with different computer stores and distributors to bring you this report. It is the first report on the sale of processors in Spain and is real data, provided by several companies. We will not say the exact amount or who has provided us with this information because we owe it to confidentiality. The agreement has been from the first moment that we would only publish percentages and we would not say who has given us the data. This first part is only about AMD Ryzen processors and processors based on the Zen architecture. Let's go to the mess.

Sale of Intel processors in Spain (Q1 2019)

Note: It should be noted that we have removed all non-Zen based processors. Any non-Zen core based processors have been shelved. It is true that this data has been taken into account for the last part of the report. It is not a relevant sample since they barely represent 2% and all are of Bulldozer architecture, an obsolete architecture.

JANUARY 2019

Let's start with the data for the month of January, which is the computer sales month par excellence. Above all, it stands out because the [amazon_textlink asin = 'B07B41WS48 ′ text =' AMD Ryzen 5 2600 'template =' ProductLink 'store =' hardwa028-21 ′ marketplace = 'ES' link_id = 'fbcc5790-3f16-4751-a74b-ad549bdd4a4a' ] (€ 165.95) has been the undisputed king with a 52.85% market share. By little the [amazon_textlink asin = 'B07B428M7F' text = 'Ryzen 7 2700X' template = 'ProductLink' store = 'hardwa028-21 ′ marketplace =' ES 'link_id =' da65bb68-91e5-4fe0-9d5b-ab019732211e '] (329.95 €) has been the second best-selling processor and the third has been the [amazon_textlink asin = 'B07B428V2L' text = 'Ryzen 5 2600X' template = 'ProductLink' store = 'hardwa028-21 ′ marketplace =' ES 'link_id =' 87870b21 -22e8-4ff9-bda4-84ea60d46e67 ′] (€ 222.95). The difference between the latter and the Ryzen 7 2700 (€ 289.95) is almost 10%.

Especially noteworthy is the low acceptance or interest in APUs. The best seller was the Ryzen 3 2200G with a 2.66% market share. It also stands out that during the entire month of January no Ryzen 5 2400G has been sold. The total market share of APUs is only 5.32%, which is quite a strong figure: APUs in Spain are not of interest.

FEBRUARY 2019

Here the data is almost identical to that of February, with some caveats. The AMD Ryzen 5 2600 remains the best seller, increasing its share to 54.73%. It is followed by the Ryzen 5 2600X with a 12.84% share and the Ryzen 7 2700X with 10.14%. The Ryzen 7 2700 drops a lot, which has been passed by the Ryzen 3 2200G and Ryzen 4 2400G APUs. It stands out above all that some Threadripper have been sold this month, an interesting fact.

Regarding APUs, in February it seems that they had more prominence, catching a market share of 12.17%. Something very interesting is that the Athlon 220GE APU does not appear in the statistics, none were sold this month.

RYZEN 5 2600 54,73%
RYZEN 5 2600X 12,84%

MARCH 2019

This month that we leave behind is especially interesting. The AMD Ryzen 5 2600 falls to 25.66% market share and the Ryzen 7 2700 rises a lot with 23.03%. The rise to the third position of the Ryzen 5 2400G stands out and is that only this month, this processor has sold more than all APUs in February.

During this past month no Athlon 220GE and Athlon 240GE have been sold. The overall market share of APUs becomes 28.92%. This means that just this month 10% more APUs have been sold than the previous two months. An interesting data but that in general calculations, as we will see later, is not very representative.

RYZEN 5 2600 25,66%
RYZEN 7 2700 23,03%
RYZEN 5 2400G 15,79%

FIRST QUARTER OF 2019

The data for the first quarter, as you can imagine, make it clear that the best seller is the AMD Ryzen 5 2600 with a 46% market share. It is followed by the Ryzen 5 2600X (14.03%) and the Ryzen 7 2700X (10.66%). It also highlights that the Threadripper have a fairly residual presence and that they only represent 1.7% of all AMD Zen processors sold in Spain. APUs on the other hand represent 13.49%.

RYZEN 5 2600X 14,03%

SALE BY FAMILIES

There is not the slightest surprise here. The Pinnacle Ridge, which is the Ryzen 2000 Series, are the best sellers with almost 80% market share. This is clear if we remember that 46% of the processors sold were the Ryzen 5 2600. But it also leaves us an interesting fact, that the Summit Ridge, the Ryzen 100, are no longer sold, users prefer the most modern ones.

ATHLON 4,97%
SUMMIT RIDGE 4,97%
PINNACLE RIDGE 79,93%
Raven Ridge 8,53%
THREADRIPPER (1st GEN) 0,36%
THREADRIPPER (2st GEN) 1,24%

CONCLUSION

Some data that leaves no room for doubt. In Spain, users do not want APUs and curiously, they prefer the mid-range without XFR, while the high-end prefer it with XFR. Something that can also be extracted from this data is that the entry range, the AMD Ryzen 3 are barely sold, a fact that has surprised me a lot. An interesting fact is that the Athlon are very well valued, we assume that they are good value for money for casual games and eSports such as LoL or Dota 2.

Curiously, sales at Intel are much more distributed. Although the Coffee Lake and the Coffee Lake Refresh have the most market share, there are none that exceed 20% overall in sales. While the mid-range is sold more at AMD, users bet more on the high-end.
