[EXCLUSIVE] Sale of Intel and AMD processors in Spain in April 2019

We bring you exclusively the market share of Intel and AMD processors during the month of April 2019, with really interesting data.

This month it has cost us more to collect data on the sale of processors in Spain. The data are for the month of April (yes, we are aware that May is ending) and they are quite interesting. Above all, it lets us see that the entry-level range of Intel and AMD have quite little weight in our market. We can also see that the Threadripper have a negligible presence and that the Core i9 Xtreme don't sell much either.

Intel processor sales in April 2019

I have to say that, after sifting through all the data, I was very surprised, as were you when seeing the data. Intel's best-selling processor is the 9-core, 9900-thread Core i8 16K. It represents exactly 24.44% of all sales of Core processors, which means that one in four processors sold in Spain is a Core i9 9900K.

There is a brutal data and it is that, if we add the sales of the Core i9 9900K, Core i7 8700 and Core i7 9700K, we can see that they add up to more than 50%. The highest range of processors of the company are sold the same as the rest of the range of processors, adding the Core Xtreme and Xeon. It is a fact to really take into account and that we will then compare with AMD.

The low range represented by the Core i3 8100 and Pentium G4560 barely represents 6% of sales in our country. Clearly these processors have hardly any output in our country, like the low-end of AMD, where the pattern is similar.

PROCESSOR MARKET SHARE
CORE i9 9900K 24,44%
CORE i5 9400F 17,41%
CORE i7 8700 15,93%
CORE i7 9700K 10,00%
CORE i5 9600K 9,63%

XEON E5-2620 V3 0,37%

Sale of AMD processors in April 2019

If the data shown from Intel is overwhelming, the data from AMD is no less so. 53.33% of the AMD processors that have been sold in our country are the Ryzen 5 2600. Contrary to what happens with its competitor, here what we could call the mid-range is the best seller. It is quite normal since we are talking about a 6-core and 12-thread processor that has a price that ranges between € 150-165.

As an interesting fact, the high-end Ryzen processors represents less than 20% market share. The low-end represented by the Ryzen 3 2200G (9.23%) and the Athlon 200GE (3.59%), account for less than 13% of market share. Although it is more than double that of its competitor, it shows that the low range in both cases is not significant and does not interest users.

PROCESSOR MARKET SHARE
RYZEN 5 2600 53,33%
RYZEN 7 2700X 10,77%
RYZEN 3 2200G 9,23%
RYZEN 7 2700 8,72%
RYZEN 5 2600X 8,21%
ATHLON 200GE 3,59%
RYZEN 5 2400G 3,08%
RYZEN 3 1200 1,54%
RYZEN THREADRIPPER 2990WX 0,51%
RYZEN THREADRIPPER 1920X 0,51%
RYZEN 7 1700 0,51%

SALE OF AMD PROCESSORS IN APRIL 2019

Share of market share in April 2019

Despite the good prices of the AMD Ryzen, it seems that people are still sticking with the Core. We can see that 58% of the processors sold in our country are from Intel, the remaining 42% are processors from AMD. These are fairly even data that could be broken after Computex. Possibly this first quarter the arrival of the Ryzen 3000 is not yet noticeable, but for the third quarter they will surely be noticed and not a little.

PROCESSORS MARKET SHARE APRIL 2019

Conclusion

In January alone, AMD managed to sell more processors than its competitor. More or less AMD remains between 40-45% market share and Intel between 55-60% market share. It appears that AMD's 62% market share in January was merely anecdotal. A trend that may change as early as the third quarter, once the new Ryzen arrive. But what is clear is that the price, when choosing a processor, does not influence anything at all, other factors influence.
