Microsoft Project Scorpio will move big games, like Minecraft, in native 4K resolutions

Microsoft's Project Scorpio will certainly move 4K games, such as Minecraft or Rocket League and perhaps one more that is well optimized, but we'll see what happens with real games like Gears of War or The Witcher.

Yesterday there was a bitter controversy regarding my comparison between the leaked specifications of Microsoft's Project Scorpio and the hardware that we can find in the market. Many did not want to understand it or were left with an excerpt from the text, which in some cases they turned around as it suited them best. Today I am talking about toasters consoles and is that we have reviewed the issue in depth and we have realized that indeed Microsoft has not guaranteed 4K @ 60fps, that already depends on the game.

Indeed Digital Foundry was able to test the game Forza 6, a car game, where the textures and particles that the graphics card has to load are from another galaxy, even above games like The Witcher, Gears of War, Crysis 3 or DOOM. Where it will stop. If the example of a game to be moved to 4K in a fps rate is that, I think that on PC we should leave Tomb Raider, Ashes of the Singularity or Bioshock Infinity, from this moment on the games that really establish if a graphics is good or It is bad are Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Minecraft, two games loaded with textures and that to move them to 1080p @ 60fps, you need a GTX 1080 Ti or a CrossFireX of RX 580, at least.

Leaving aside this humorous parenthesis, which the XBOX worshipers will not have made the slightest grace (while writing I am breaking the box), I must say that I use the term 'TOASTER', because I remember the red lights of the mythical XBOX 360 and The mod, which I leave you on video, where we can see the chef Ferrán Adrià cooking a good piece of meat at low temperature, using a PlayStation 3. So that the friends of XBOX do not say that we do not give Sony.

Rereading all the information from Global Foundry about Project Scorpio we have noticed the detail in which they comment that the start menu works at 4K. It is quite an achievement, or well, not so much, but it is already something, since we can watch YouTube videos in 4K using our console instead of our SmartTV. I will tell you one thing at this point, the last console I had was the PlayStation, the good one, the original and after that I already went to real gaming platforms, computers, where you do not have to wait forty centuries to install a pirate game , since two days later they are all in Torrent to download and enjoy (I refuse to spend € 60 plus € 10-15 for DLC for two weapons and a map).

I'm going to try to get serious about it, although at this point, I doubt that many will continue reading after reading toaster in capital letters. Consoles once had their space, but today with the solutions that exist, that space is reduced, indeed, more and more users are who stop buying consoles and opt for the computer as a gaming platform, which allows you , as in my case, to write this satire with shades of black novel and homeopathy. The only thing that wins is in 4K, since the monitors and graphics for that resolution are worth a lot of money, but hey, we'll see the 4K of the Project Scorpio.

Microsoft can give us surprises on Sunday, it still leaves us all with a span of noses and announces a console that allows you to play at 8K @ 60fps or 4K @ 120fps, made to promise and I promise. We say this because this possibly has the HDMI 2.1 connector, therefore, it supports these resolutions. Surely in the end everything will be scaled to 4K in most real games, of those that have particles and textures and will be the Minecraft History Mode and two more that work at 4K natively. There are no cheap TVs that support 8K either, so 8K is silly for now.

It's very funny, because it's not the first time I've been accused of speaking without knowing. A few months ago I said 'the AMD RX Vega does not exist, it is in the development phase' and before Computex 2017 I said that 'the AMD RX Vega will not be presented at Computex and will arrive at the end of September at the earliest', they are two quite successful important and hope to add this to my collection. I'm sure Project Scorpio will move games to 4K, I don't doubt that, but Indie games, games like Forza 6, games where the textures and part of the backgrounds are static images. For heavy games like Gears of Wars or The Witcher, it will shoot 1080p / 2K with 4K upscaling and on. I had to say this to close: TOASTER.

IF YOU HAVE ARRIVED HERE, CONGRATULATIONS, BUT IT'S AN ENTRANCE OF HUMOR, WE ARE NEITHER LOST. TOASTER

  1. I don't think I get to 4k at more than 25 fps mostly because of the cpu and the architecture of the polaris 10 graphics

  2. They might move the games to 4k if they apply the technology to worsen the parts that the player doesn't see, there was a demo out there with Halo explaining the process if I remember correctly. On the other hand, optimization can help a lot what is a closed platform which is an additional point. Finally, and this is in my own opinion, is that not even Amd itself knows how to get 100% of the potential of its product via drivers, perhaps under the M$oft team they will give them some extra improvement.
PD1 - I would like to see where the Amd graphics would go if the Nvidia Drivers team made the drivers for them.
PD2- This is for the Editor SG is not the best science fiction series although it comes close.
