Released the new NVIDIA driver that enables official support for twelve FreeSync monitors that support G-Sync technology

Following NVIDIA's Keynote at CES 2019, there is a lot of talk about FreeSync-compatible monitors. The company spoke during the conference of how many monitors would be compatible with the new driver. GeForce Driver 417.71 has now been released which adds support for FreeSync monitors. So anyone with an NVIDIA validated monitor that has FreeSync will be able to use it just like G-Sync

It should be very clear that NVIDIA would have tested about 400 monitors that had FreeSync. Only a dozen of these monitors would have passed the tests successfully. The new driver therefore adds compatibility ONLY with the listed monitors By the company, any other monitor that is not on the list is either not supported or the G-Sync function will not work properly.

Those with certified monitors will have G-Sync enabled automatically. Those with FreeSync compatibility that have not been certified by the company, although they will be able to enable the G-Sync function manually in the GeForce Experience software Control Panel.

G-Sync certifications

Monitors that are certified with G-Sync are categorized into three levels:

G-Sync Compatible: They are monitors that have not been certified where the suppression of flickering is not guaranteed. Only monitors from the list we have published are supported.
G-Sync: Those monitors that have passed more than 300 tests by NVIDIA and in which the operation will be perfect.
G Sync Ultimate: Monitors which have passed the tests and which have 'real' HDR. This means that they are those that offer a brightness of 1000 nits.
