We present our alternative to Microsoft Project Scorpio and compare it with other proposals
We analyze the counter-budgets to face the Microsoft Project Scorpio shown by Xataka and El Chapuzas Informático and present our alternative.
This week we have seen how Microsoft's Project Scorpio console has been officially presented. The specifications of this console are a custom processor based on the AMD Jaguar architecture, quite obsolete, a graphics card with 40 Compute Units, of which nothing more has been said, 12GB GDDR5 shared between the processor and the graphics card and a unit of 1tB and 2.5 ”mechanical hard disk. They are components, which we have analyzed and it seems quite outdated, considering Intel Skylake and Kaby Lake and AMD Ryzen processors.
What has become more relevant by Microsoft is that this console is capable of moving games in 4K @ 60FPS, but of course, the doubt we have is that if the graphic computing is in 1080p and it is scaled up to 4K or does it actually run in 4K, which seems complicated. Shortly after the presentation, Xataka showed a budget for a team that according to them should exceed the console, but which is based on 4K resolutions and for this we currently need an NVIDIA GTX 1080 graphics card, at least.

Regarding the budget of Xataka, we consider that several towns have passed, since an i7 7700K processor It is excessive, but they have made an unforgivable mistake and that is to install an i7 7700K on a motherboard with Z170 chipset. The Skylake motherboard supports Kaby Lake processors, although we need to update the BIOS and we would lose PCIe lanes and other features. We move on to RAM, which have opted for the same as us, but double the capacity, specifically the Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB, which is ideal for such a team.
As a hard drive they have opted for a Crucial MX300 1TB SSD, something that is stupid, since with a smaller capacity unit and a mechanical hard drive as a secondary we have more than enough and it is recommended. Xataka's budget does not specify a power supply, therefore we should add at least € 150 between power supply and chassis, at least. Thanks to the GTX 1070 we could play at 4K @ 60 FPS, in a stable way.
Xataka's budget is excessive, but it is an option. The El Chapuzas Informático portal has presented a counterproposal.
Regarding the budget, we have to agree on Pentium G4560 processor, which we have analyzed and offers excellent performance and the MSI H110 PRO-D motherboard is a very good option in our opinion. We agree on the amount of RAM, 8GB, but we have opted for about 2666MHz, while El Chapuzas has opted for 2133MHz. Regarding the graphics card, they have opted for an AMD Sapphire Nitro PLUS RX 480 OC, how could it be otherwise, although we have opted for the MSI GTX 1060 ARMOR OCV that offers similar performance. Tower and power supply are fine.
We have detected several problems in the budget. The first is that no hard drive is set. We think that they will have opted for an HDD, but since it is not clarified, we consider it a mistake of a person who is not a magician, but who does magic, removing the hard disk drive. It seems that the calculator does not handle it correctly, since the budget amounts to € 559, but we have done the sum and it comes out for € 512, almost € 50 less, which is what a mechanical hard drive costs.
We must bear in mind that the Microsoft console is that, a machine designed to play and little else, while a computer offers us many more options in addition to gaming, such as office tasks (important for a student), photo editing, video and many others that a console does not offer. The three solutions are good and we consider that playing 4K today, if not with a television, is not viable, since the monitors are priced out of the market, while for € 120 we can find a 1080 ”24p monitor , something that in 4K goes from € 300.
Engadget has been wrong, but its budget allows playing at 4K @ 60FPS, something that the RX 480 cannot do, unfortunately, be careful, it also depends on the game and how well optimized it is.

hello.
I don't know exactly what this news smells like. If to kk of vaka or to escape of butane.
These news that are, do you chop between websites or experiments and then analyze forums to have how people discuss?
It is becoming increasingly difficult to understand this about games.
Before graphics could run the game we were satisfied. Because the important thing is the game.
So much graphics and so much history. Yes with a deck of cards and a case of beer (very cold that is) you can also enjoy it.
All the best
This is not news, it is an article and is to offer an alternative and complete solution. For the cow, the same if you are in the middle of the field and for the butane, see if you have an escape.
It is clear to me that you have no idea, it is not the same to play at one resolution or another and with high or low quality, the story without good graphics is useless.
You say the RX 480 doesn't run at 1080p 60fps but the GTX 1060 does? If they are just as powerful, is it a joke or something like that?
I have no idea, you don't have to tell me. I already know that.
Ale, don't you think you're a wise man, nor do you believe the navel of the world.
I have a few games on my back to know what resolution and good graphics are.
And I buy a story without good graphics, but a bad story with good graphics does not.
Beautiful ale, have a nice day.
PS: with your comment it is clear to me that this is not a pique of webs. It is the second.
Even though one reads everything that Chapuzasinformatico says on the web, the truth is that it is the only Spanish-language website that makes decent reviews and news in Spanish. The rest of the websites generally "sell" their voice to the highest bidder. So, for example, when I read an article, I want to read a "story" and not an "advertisement" as happens on this website and others.
postscript:
To say that installing an i7 7700k on a Z170 motherboard is unforgivable is at a level equal to or lower than that of Xataka…
Well, if you don't want to be informed and anything is worth it, you know where to go. The reason is simple. You buy an i7 7700K to put it on a board that, although it supports it, makes this processor stop being a Kaby Lake with more PCIe lines or support for Intel Optane (among others) and becomes a Skylake. I have to say, however, that the i7 7700K does not seem like a good processor to me, as we analyzed it on the web and found that it was overheating. I have to say, in addition, that a 10% performance (if it comes in some cases), with respect to Skylake and a few more PCIe lines, does not justify the move from Skylake to Kaby Lake. If the generational difference is bigger, I would analyze my needs very well and if it is worth opting for Skylake or Kaby Lake, although I have to say, that after being the first medium in the world to publish the full review of the AMD Ryzen 5 1400 Despite the problems with the RAM and the difficulty of overclocking, I would stick with the AMD processor.
Look, the truth is that many of us are not interested in the additional PCI-E lanes or the Intel Optane, there is no justifiable difference between the Z170 and Z270 chipsets, the new DMI 3.0 communication interface, like PCI-E 3.0 and 2.0, the difference is null and in the best case scenario there is a 5%+ performance and if my requirements are more PCI-E lanes, then this is not my platform. If x person's quality requirements are to throw away money, then that's their problem. I also congratulate you for being the first website to publish the Ryzen 1400 benchmarks, I'll read it later...
Man risking to install an i7 7770K on a Z170 motherboard, beyond the pci-e or the optane is a risk.
If the board has not been updated at the factory or with a Sky Lake CPU, it may be that the CPU does not recognize you and does not turn on.
I speak from experience.
that would be a small problem, small because it is the easiest to correct. pay a very small sum to any technician or get any colleague with a celeron pentium, etc. Skylake and that's it… ..
Beyond the PCIe lines, if the motherboard is Z170, you put a Skylake if you are not interested in the few improvements, it is that simple and you save money, now, make that combination of a chipset of a generation for a processor of another generation makes no sense. Also, that's what Assailant says, if you put an i7 7700K on a Z170 board, the most normal thing is that it won't boot, because it has to have the updated BIOS and possibly those that are in the stores of the stores do not have the updated BIOS.
The bios thing can be a tiny obstacle, no titanic work and with respect to using old generation cpu with new generation chipset or vice versa, tell those who have sandy bridge cpu with z77 board, haswell with z97 board. there is something called uncontrolled consumerism. I also emphasize it again, if there are no tangible / visible improvements it is a scam
zasca in the mouth
Where is the zasca? What I see is that you don't quite understand it. You can install a Kaby Lake on a motherboard with a Z170 chipset designed for Skylake, we'll see if it starts up or not. I think you don't quite understand things.
The zasca is that no one gives a damn how well understood you are in hardware and you see that the important thing in this article is the price performance comparison.
Not a momentary processor-board incompatibility any tech fixes in a jiffy.
Those problems have been going on for many years, that without having a fucking idea I know.
I agree that the problem can be cited in the article. But don't be blunt and qualify it as an unforgivable mistake.
The price-performance comparison with a product that has not yet come out, it is only smoke and of course it will not move 4k as it is understood to move 4k on a pc? And also throwing the house out the window and also doing it wrong? Fool is the one who says nonsense. When you pick up a 6700k on a z170 board, you look like someone in control. And now you add a year of a cheap fan or a night by air and you have oc at 4,5 without ruffling (that is, you leave it at stock speed of 7700k). And you avoid that someone can tell you anything. Anyway, the whole life EGB, pears with pears, apples with apples ... also ... weblogsl is the conglomerate of pages in Spanish where clickbait and sponsored articles are the most bloody. Defend those pages, according to which articles and columnists (who also write in several of them ... the Spanish proverb already says it ... who covers a lot ...) in those pages is not to have two fingers in front.
u-uh and what else?
For the author, are you saying that the RX 480 doesn't run at 1080p 60fps but the GTX 1060 does? If they are just as powerful, is it a joke or something like that?
Sorry, there is so much data that one in the end is lost, it is 4K @ 60FPS, corrected
