This is how Gullivarrr works in Animal Crossing New Horizons

With the recent July update of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, diving and Gullivarrr have been introduced. As both things are related, we explain in this guide what the encounter with this NPC is like.

Animal Crossing users in general, not just New Horizons, will already know that Gulliver is a classic character. It appears regularly on the beaches of our town, and in this case our island. But Gulliver and Gullivarrr are not the same character, although they look alike and we are going to explain to you what regular encounters with this corsair are like.

Gullivarrr in Animal Crossing sends us to sea

From Monday to Friday Gullivarrr can appear on our island, since Saturdays and Sundays are reserved for Totakeke and Juliana respectively. The game is already in charge of ensuring that Trini, Alcatifa and Gandulio visit us every week, so that the other two days Gullivarrr can appear.

If we wake up this pirate in the Animal Crossing installment for Nintendo Switch, he will tell us that he has lost his communicator and will ask us to look for it. With Gulliver in Animal Crossing New Horizons, we have to look for pieces of the communicator by digging in the sands of the beaches (except for the secret one at the back of the island, which is where he parks Sly the Righteous).

But here we talk about Gullivarrr, who we remember, is not the same character as Gulliver. One Piece's Gol D. Roger cosplayer lost his communicator at sea. We will have to go swimming and snorkeling, a feature they put in the July update.

What do we need to be able to swim

We will only need to bring a swimsuit. sold in Tendo and Nendo's shop, in the tools and seeds cabinet, at a cost of about 3000 berries. The designs rotate every day, but they all work the same way. We will not need to have any more equipment such as diving goggles that Nintendo gives us.

The suit occupies a space in the inventory, it cannot be put as a tool in the favorite tools circle, and it will make our full body suit, or our bottom and top garments go to our inventory. We'll have to prepare some space before we go for Gullivarr's comm.

Swimming in Animal Crossing New Horizons

Once we have the bathing suit equipped, to enter to swim we will have to go to one of the edges of the island. It can be a cliff, the coast, the rock, the dock or the airport dock. There we press A. To return to land, we will have to go to one of the coasts.

To search for Gullivarrr's communicator we will have to search the sea. The game will show us the places where we can dive because we will see bubbles emanating from the bottom. We approach the bubbles and press the Y button to dive. We will have some time to go straight into the shade.

During our search for Gullivarrr's communicator, we may encounter sea creatures. They are not the same that we get by fishing in the sea, since these are obtained exclusively by diving.

These sea creatures can be donated to the museum as with the critters, artwork, fossils and fish that we find at Animal Crossing New Horizons. Sea creatures will be exhibited in the fish section. We will have to give a sea creature to Socrates so that he will then let us donate the rest in bulk.

While searching for Gullivarrr's communicator, we may come across a scallop. Pascal's NPC will offer to give it to us in exchange for a mermaid furniture recipe that requires pearls. We advise that the scallop can be donated to the museum, so if we are one of those who want to see the entire museum, we are interested in keeping one. Scallops are not especially rare so don't be afraid to keep one to donate to the museum and then give the rest to Pascal until you have all the recipes.

The award that Gullivarrr gives us

Once we've found Gullivarrr's communicator, we'll stop swimming and we'll give it to him. He will tell us that he will reward us with a gift that will arrive in the mail of our house the next day. Your rewards will always be pirate-themed items. You can decorate the town or one of the rooms in our house as if it were the inside of a pirate ship.

List of pirate furniture in Animal Crossing New Horizons

  • Pirate barrel
  • Pirate ship cannon
  • Pirate Ship Helm
  • Pirate treasure
  • Pirate ship wall
  • Three variants of pirate scarf
  • Pirate ship floor
  • Pirate carpet (which is a huge treasure map)
  • Pirate barrel lying down
  • Three variants of the Pirates Captain Jacket
  • Pirate pants
  • Three variants of Pirate dress
  • Pirate treasure crown
  • Three variants of pirate costume
  • Pirate beard
  • Pirate eye patch
  • Pirate boots

None of the furniture can be customized. If we want to get all the objects, Gullivarr will make sure that we do not receive any repeated objects until he has given us one of each. This way we make sure to get all the related objects by repeating its mission.

It has been seen that every time we help Gullivarrr, a rusted piece appears in the waste chest of the Neighborhood Services building in the square, which will be useful to build the giant robot. Helping Gullivarrr doesn't add up to the Golden Shovel recipe in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which is achieved by helping Gulliver 100 times. Because, we repeat, they are not the same character, although they look very similar.

Enjoy the adventures of Gullivarrr

And that's all we can say for Gullivarrr in Animal Crossing New Horizons. Now you can go out to sea to find your communicator to get pirate outfits and furniture, in case you want to thematize your outfit, house or island. Very surely this furniture will be in high demand, so you can go to dedicated communities such as nookazon to achieve agreements with users who have what you are looking for. You will need to have an active subscription to Nintendo Switch online to visit other players or have them visit you in order to carry out these exchanges.
