History of Corsdair Gaming

The company we know today as Corsair Gaming was founded as Corsair Microsystems Inc. in 1994 by Andy Paul, Don Lieberman and John Beekley. Originally, they developed level 2 cache modules for OEMs. When Intel incorporated L2 cache into the processor with the launch of its Pentium Pro processor family in 1995, Corsair shifted its focus toward manufacturing DRAM modules for the server market.

In 2002 they began marketing DRAM modules designed for the enthusiast segment designed for overclocking. They expanded their production of DRAM memory modules to the high-end segment for overclocking with the Corsair Vengeance Pro and Corsair Dominator Platinum series designed for overclocking applications.

Over the years, they have expanded the variety of their catalog, specializing in high-end products for video game lovers. In addition to peripherals for playing video games, they develop heatsinks, liquid cooling, SSDs, towers and monitors.

Corsair acquired Elgato Gaming in 2018 by the Elgato company. On July 24, 2019, they acquired ORIGIN PC Corp for their pre-assembled computer division. This same year they also began with the acquisition of SCUF Gaming. Its last major acquisition was in July 2023, with the acquisition of keyboard retailer Drop.

In 2023 they began to introduce the iCUE Link ecosystem into their hardware focused on building enthusiast PCs. With this, compatible hardware connects to each other and to the motherboard using a single Corsair proprietary cable for easier assembly and thus reducing the number of cables and connections during assembly.

What is Corsair's Elgato brand?

Elgato was a company acquired by Corsair in 2018 in a purchase that did not include the Eve division. Elgato specializes in making consumer-grade products for devices focused on the content creator sector, which includes YouTubers and Twitch streamers.

This brand is in charge of manufacturing peripherals that can be useful to a YouTuber or a Twitch streamer in the performance of their work. These peripherals are microphones, microphone arms, headphones, high-resolution webcams and even a prompter for reading scripts. Its star product is the Elgato Stream Deck, a dock with several self-illuminated buttons that allow you to program them so that when you press them, macros are immediately executed, which can add transitions to different scenes in the OBS software, play sound effects, images and more. , so that creating an effect in full streaming only requires pressing a button.
