Good,
I have some doubts regarding the operation and compatibility of the PCIe slots on the ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus (Wifi) board. On this board I plan to install a Ryzen 7 3700X and for a while use an NVIDIA GTX 260 graphics card (Amp! from Zotac) that would support PCIe 2.0
Well, in the official manual of the board (of which I attach a photo) the operation of the expansion slots seems to be documented (it has two PCIe x16 slots at 4.0) and I do not see the operating mode in the AMD Ryzen 3rd Generation processors box of the slot to PCIe 2.0 mode. The question is, would this system work with that graphics card and processor?:
On the other hand, when I install a newer graphics card in the PCIe x16_1 slot with the Ryzen 7 3700x, does it mean that the other PCIe x16_2 slot would not work?
Thank you very much.
Yes. The PCIE 2.0x16 card will work with the PCIE 3.0 x 16 slot.
The PCIE 2.0x16 card can work at a maximum speed of Gen2 (5.0GT/s).
The PCIE 3.0 port can work at a maximum speed of (8 GT/s).
When putting a PCIE 2.0x16 card in a PCIE 3.0 port, a negotiation takes place in the maximum speed supported by both sides, which in this case is 2.0 (that of the graphics card).
