Alastria, the first consortium in Spain for the development of blockchain technologies
The Alastria consortium of companies was born in Spain, whose main interest is to develop a blockchain network that facilitates operations between associated companies and streamlines processes.
Developed in Spain, what is the first multisectoral consortium of companies in the country that seek to develop different characteristics of smart contract technology, in order to develop a service for a total of seventy companies and institutions in the country. This conglomerate has been baptized as Alastria and is the first large association of private companies in order to develop a blockchain base. Alastria was born as a 'semi-public and permissioned blockchain network, as well as specialized for use in an environment subject to Spanish regulation', which has the purpose of developing 'a common digital space'. This project was presented simultaneously in Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Bilbao and Valencia.
Julio Faura, from the Santander Group's Innovation Division, will preside over the entity, which does not seek the development of a new cryptocurrency, it is based on corporate use, being a meeting point between different companies, related to energy, banking or the world of telecommunications. We have Repsol, Banco Santander (who has been working on blockchain tools for a long time), BME Innova, ICADE, Everis, Endesa, Banca Sabadell, BBVA, among others, and this group was born from what was initially called RedLyra.
Essentially, Alastria aims to implement security, transparency, and identity management tools, and potentially implement tokens in certain business areas related to equal physical and digital value, with one key difference: it will be based on the assets used by partner companies. Alastria will utilize the Quorum network, developed by JP Morgan (whose CEO, Jamie Dimon, never misses an opportunity to attack cryptocurrencies), within the Ethereum blockchain technology.
One of the pillars of the project will be the control and management of identities, through the ID Alastria protocol, users will have full control over the personal information that is handled, offering reliable data for semi-public use internally, on the network, something that allows the execution of smart contracts, making use of some of the most important characteristics of Ethereum, which will comply with Spanish legislation.
