Radical changes in AMD, who would be working on new GPUs for this year, based on the Zen architecture that has given life to the Ryzen and that would mean the AMD RX 600 Series family
Right now AMD has a serious problem in the graphics card market, because it is unable to launch a high-end product that competes in performance with NVIDIA. Vega has been a complete disaster and the company seems to have no intention of launching a Vega in 7nm on the gaming market and the next would be Navi in 2019, based on 7nm and with similar performance to the current GTX 1080. The company seems to be working on a solution that offers a clear and immediate impact on performance. This project does not have an official name from the company, but there is talk of 'Zen' for graphics cards.
After the departure of Raja Koduri, who was behind everything that had to do with Radeon Technology Group, from the Roadmap, development and engineering, launch strategy and anything that had to do with GPU, was the CEO of AMD, Lisa Su, who took command. He signed two heavyweights from the graphics industry, such as David Wang and Mike Rayfield, to lead RTG, which also has brought with it more restructuring within RTG, with the entry and exit of key members of the company.
After Koduri left the company, the 'Zen Team' was created, a group of RTG engineers, whose only mission is to carry out a complete redesign of the company's GPUs, in collaboration with the rest of the company's engineers. . According to the information, this team was born in October last year, after the departure of Koduri. Key engineers have been included in the development of the Zen CPUs. The main figure at Radeon Project zen is Suzanne Plummer, one of the architectures behind the development of Ryzen.
They have not wasted their time and are already working on new GPUs from the company on steroids, so to speak, and that would leave the original Roadmap to nothing. The mission is to bring what has been achieved with Zen to the GPU market, in addition to innovating in key areas, in order to launch competitive products in the graphics market, with respect to what was originally planned.
The two key areas in which they are working the most are improving the working frequencies of the GPUs and making them more energy efficient. This project was launched under the orders of Lisa Su, who expects results this year. But it is not the only front, there are teams working on Navi for 2019 and on the architecture that will replace the GCN for 2020.

It is clear that the batteries were put.
And that the dismissal of Raja Koduri was totally justified.
This would not be the one that would replace gcn ???
I do not think they have a new architecture that will replace GCN for this year or even next year… there is speculation for 2020… Navi is what comes and will continue to be GCN… also very good news that AMD is working on a total replacement of GCN already that it has already reached the ceiling ...
