AMD and NVIDIA begin to compete for the Ethereum and Zcash mining market

Ethereum and Zcash mining is becoming a trend and more and more users choose to set up a mining team based on AMD or NVIDIA, or to operate with cryptocurrencies to obtain a great return.

The mining of cryptocurrencies is here to stay and a clear example is the brutal increase in the price of Bitcoin, Ethereum and Zcash so far this year, the growing interest by companies and users in cryptocurrencies and the blockchain, the disappearance of the market of AMD graphics cards due to mining and the interest of NVIDIA and AMD to develop graphics cards intended by and for mining. AMD so far was good for its good performance and adjusted price, which will allow you to recover the investment relatively quickly, but now it does not matter if AMD or NVIDIA.

We have been talking many times about NVIDIA's interest in developing a graphics card especially for mining and preventing the gaming graphics card market from running out of stock due to mining. AMD has already run out of stock, but NVIDIA is noticing the impact of mining, especially Zcash, which is better mined with NVIDIA and that is why the company would be developing a Pascal GPU just for mining. In principle it would be one based on the GTX 1060 with the GP 106-100 GPU, while there are rumors that speak of a possible GTX 1070 especially for mining, which would offer better performance and energy efficiency than its competitor, AMD.

According to the invitation made by Mitch Steeves, analyst at RBC Capital Markers Analyst, he has compared the performance of the GTX 1070 and RX 580, for mining cryptocurrencies, where the NVIDIA graphics would be 33% more energy efficient than the solution of AMD for mining, therefore profitability would increase. Energy efficiency is a very important factor, not only to improve profitability, but also because of energy resources, which are increasing and that is not good, due to other factors, such as global warming.

NVIDIA knows a lot about entering large markets such as autonomous vehicles or artificial intelligence and does not want to miss the boat of mining, which is why it has developed a graphics card based on the Pascal GP106-100, as a perfected solution for the task of mining. This system is mainly aimed at Ethereum, Zcash and Monero, the three currencies that are best mined with these graphics cards (although the best is Zcash). The system would be based on a motherboard equal to or similar to those developed by Pandaminer, with an Intel Celeron Mobile processor, a 64GB mSATA SSD hard drive (for the operating system and the necessary software and that's it), 4GB DDR3 and a power supply. power capable of giving 1600W.

The power supply is not included in the batch and this is so that the user can use a power supply that they already have or find the solution that they like best. We must bear in mind that each cryptocurrency has different power requirements and different consumptions. For Ethereum a 1000W power supply is required for 200MH / s, approximately. For Zcash we would need 1050W of power for 2500SOL / s, approximately. For Monero we would need 700W offering a relative power of 4400H / s, approximately. The graphics have a 6-pin PCIe connector, therefore we would need up to eight 12V lines with this connector for the Pandaminer board.

The development of these graphics has been designed to be efficient, therefore a passive heatsink has been integrated into each graphic, since the system has five fans for the air inlet and four for the air outlet. We are not aware of the price of each of these graphics cards, but they will be cheaper even than the AMD RX 580 or NVIDIA GTX 1060, and the price of the system that NVIDIA is developing has not been given either. It has also been commented that together with these graphics cards, special drivers would arrive to optimize cryptocurrency mining to the maximum.

  1. mm the only thing that worries me is that it is only 4 gb when it should be 8 for the peaks

  2. For mining, AMD has always been better, the problem is that they blew the stock. I bought my RX 480 Nitro before the boom and each one cost me 5k MXM, which is about $250 USD, and Outbox mines 23mh/s without touching anything. When I put in the custom BIOS and undervolted them, they mine 31mh/s on Nvidia in the new rig that Outbox made. The 1060s mine 19mh/s and oceaning (due to consumption it has the advantage of being able to ocean) barely go up to 23mh/s. Another thing is that although Zcash is mined a little better, it is not compensated by the versatility that AMD has, where Eth and Monero are more profitable, or at least in my case, what I have been mining with AMD and NVIDIA is
    500usd approx amd
    390usd approx Nvidia
Both teams with 4gb of ram and the same pentium and the same mother ASRock Like the number of GPUs 6 = 6 the only advantage it has is consumption but even that amd consumes more it gives 100usd more approx (I say approx why you never win a solid figure and more when you do not mine in pool but

    1. Hi buddy, I need some tutorials on cryptocurrency mining. Could you help me? My WhatsApp is +50760184737.
