Surprising decision by Apple, which decides to stop manufacturing the iPad and make MacBook convertibles.
Apple will stop manufacturing its iPad tablets and will begin production of convertible MacBooks. According to Apple, this is a more logical option than making both products, offering a single and dual solution. This new product will be presented on January 20 at a special event, where all the features will be announced, although most of them have already been leaked.
What we know is that both the screen and the keyboard will have their own hardware, or what is the same, processor, graphics, RAM and storage unit. This may seem absurd, but it is not so much if we consider that both devices will have a Thunderbolt 3 port. When the screen and keyboard are joined, the power is doubled, with which we will have twice the performance.
We know that the screen will have a dual resolution, on the one hand 1080p when the screen is separated from the keyboard and it will be able to work in 4K thanks to the fact that the keyboard has an integrated GTX 1070. Apple has informed that this will allow users who have this device to be able to work faster and more efficiently. Both will also have independent batteries, ten hours of autonomy each device separately and that will reach seventeen hours of autonomy when combined.
This device will be called iMacBook Converter and will start selling on February 1. This device will have WiFi 802.ac and Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity. We also know the price. The most modest version, with two Intel i3 Kaby Lake processors, with a discrete NVIDIA graphics card and a 1080p screen will cost about € 1500, while the more advanced version, with Intel i7 processors and an NVIDIA GTX 1070 will cost about € 5000, It will have two 2GB M.512 SSD storage units (one on the keyboard and one on the tablet) and 32GB of RAM on the keyboard and 8GB on the screen.
