Apple removes Valve Link app from iOS Store, for unknown reason
After several days of being published in the Apple application store, Valve Link, the application to play computer games from your mobile, has been withdrawn from the iOS Store, for unknown reasons.
The policies of Apple and its smartphone application store are usually extremely strict and the company must validate and verify each and every application that is uploaded to its store. Valve, had planned to launch Steam Link for iOS shortly and that it would be accessible within the Apple store. Well, Apple has rejected the application for streaming games. This has been a major setback and more for Valve, the most important company in video games.
Apple is preventing Valve Link from appearing in the iOS Store.
Two days after Valve published the application on the Apple store, it has withdrawn the application for iOS operating systems. Apple has shielded that there would be commercial conflicts with guidelines of the application, which would not have been detected by the team that initially reviewed the application. Valve has appealed this decision, claiming that Steam Link functions as a remote desktop over LAN. Apple refuses to change its mind a second time.
This application uses the same H.264 encoding technology, which is also used in the Steam Link hardware, which the company also sells. Through this application, games can be played on a smartphone that has 4K @ 60FPS resolution, but only if the smartphone is on the same network as the computer running the game. For the best possible experience, the 5GHz network is recommended, not the 2.4GHz network.
Valve has reported that it is especially disappointed in Apple's stance, as it has taken a long time to develop and they have spent a lot of resources in solving this application. Apple has not given reasons for the block, but this situation is quite strange.
