ASUS is the first company in the world to complete the Circularity Facts program with positive validation of its sustainability initiatives

ASUS has successfully completed the validation process for UL Environment's Circular Facts program. This program assesses the sustainability standards and procedures that companies implement in order to adopt a circular economy model that minimizes waste and uses materials for longer. As the first company to undergo this assessment, ASUS has provided valuable input to the assessment process.

Committed to sustainability

The award ceremony took place at the Sustainable City Forum in Taipei. UL handed the validation to Sandy Wei, ASUS's chief sustainability officer. "ASUS is deeply committed to sustainable practices and protecting the environment, and we consider resource utilization with great care when implementing circular innovation," commented Mr. Wei. “After receiving the Zero Waste validation in 2016, we have expanded our sustainability strategies and actions in order to influence our partners and society as a whole. It is an honor to participate in the development and implementation of new international standards such as the Circularity Facts program. From now on we will continue to put our grain of sand in other significant actions ”.

UL Circularity Facts Program

UL examined the material flows of ASUS laptops and desktops, as well as the factory where they are refurbished. ASUS provided the waste diversion data for the last year, demonstrated the amount of recycled components in the products, and worked with independent labs to assess their recyclability. Once obtained, the laboratory results were sent to UL Environment.

Aside from internal initiatives, ASUS has also helped one of its partners achieve a 97% landfill waste diversion, an impressive feat that has been recognized with UL's Zero Waste validation.

Digital Inclusion Project

The ASUS circular project goes beyond what UL has valued in its program. Apart from diverting waste and recycling, it also includes initiatives such as the Digital Inclusion Project, which is dedicated to donating restored equipment, as well as the implementation of a Digital Learning Center and a volunteer program so that the less privileged can access to a digital education.
