ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 Riser Card, drive supporting four M.2 NVMe drives

ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 Riser Card, a unit that allows mounting up to four M.2 NVMe drives, which will only be compatible with motherboards with Intel's X299 chipset.

Storage cards for M.2 NVMe drives are increasingly in demand, for special systems, such as Workstation or similar. Asus, for these users, has developed the Asus Hyper M.2 x16 Riser Card. This special card developed by the company allows up to four NVMe drives in RAID configuration on a single PCIe port to be installed on this card. This unit is of high performance and features, allowing to install units up to 110mm in length.

This card has a PCIe 3.0 x4 connection port, where we can install four M.2 NVMe drives, as we have said, reaching drives of up to 32Gb / s. Perhaps the most negative thing is that this unit does not have HBA logic, it only has an independent power circuit for each of the four units and it has a status LED, which tells us if it is operating. In addition, a brushed aluminum cover has been provided that acts as a heat dissipation system, to control the temperature of these units and to give the maximum possible performance.

In addition to the heatsink, a blower-type fan has been provided, which allows generating a large air flow and lowering temperatures even more if possible, since the problem of M.2 units has a significant temperature problem, which makes their performance drops a lot. The card has dimensions of 202mm long and 96mm high, while the thickness is only one PCI slot. The problem with this unit is that it will only be compatible with Intel's X299 chipset motherboards, but the pricing for these units has not been announced.
