ASUS partners with Shapeways to develop custom elements for its motherboards and graphics cards, which are 3D printed and user-customizable.
Brand diversification is a trend and ASUS is taking it to another level. If we echoed the development of the ASUS Tinkerboard, to compete with the Raspberry Pi in the maker world, we now know that ASUS has partnered with the 3D printing company, Shapeways. Both companies partner to develop 3D printed accessories globally. We can buy personalized nameplates, covers for the SLI bridge, grilles for the fans or covers for the cables, among others.
Shaperways is a company that 3D prints and spare parts of all kinds for customers around the world. The parts it manufactures for ASUS are available for download, customization and printing on the RoG forums themselves. Those who do not have a 3D printer have the solution of requesting the parts on request through the Shapeways printing service, which it has made available to the Taiwanese company.
Currently we can find a large number of accessories that we can customize and manufacture to measure, including fan parts, which we can download and print, as well as edit if we want. The product line also includes custom ASUS RoG Rampage V Edition 10 parts, ASUS 'most extreme motherboard, the Spatha gaming mouse, parts for the X99 Strix Gaming motherboard, the Z170 TUF Sabertooth Mark 1 and the Z170 Pro Gaming Aura.
Possibly ASUS develops more customizable elements that we can purchase or directly print ourselves, as long as we have a 3D printer. We will have to see if this is a flower of a day or wait to see if the company is committed to expanding its range of products by offering other interesting 3D printed elements.
