First benchmark of Intel's Core i9-11950H 'Tiger Lake-H'

The first benchmark results of Intel's eight-core Core i9-11950 'Tiger Lake-H' processor have already come out for laptops gaming, which is yet to be announced. They have been published in the Geekbench 5 database of Primate Labs.

Intel's new CPU has outperformed the quad-core Core i7-1185G7, both in its performance with single and multi-threaded workloads. But when it comes to comparing with other rival CPUs, the improvement is not so noticeable.

Intel's Core i9-11950H put to the test

The Intel Core i9-11950 processor has never been leaked, so the results have been published in a totally unexpected way. It has appeared in HP's 8-inch ZBook Studio G15.6 laptop according to Geekbench 5. The chip has eight cores based on the Willow Cove microarchitecture running at 2,60 GHz - 4,90 GHz, it is equipped with a 24 cache MB, a dual channel DDR4-3200 memory controller, and a basic UHD graphics core with the Xe architecture.

In Geekbench 5, the 8-inch ZBook Studio G15,6 powered by Core i9-11950H scored 1 365 points in the single-thread benchmark and 6 points in the multi-thread benchmark. The reference system worked in the energy plan 'HP Optimized (Modern Standby)', although the maximum TDP that is supported in this mode is not known.

The upcoming Core i9-11950H processor outperforms the quad-core i7-1185G7 for mainstream and thin and light laptops in both single-threaded and multi-threaded workloads. This is because the i7-1185G7 has a TDP of 28W. But the Core i9-11950H lags behind AMD's Ryzen 9 5980HS and Apple's M1 in all kinds of workloads. Its multi-threaded score lags behind that of its predecessor, the Core i9-10885H, thus it suffers from being multi-tasking.

Geekbench 5 speculates that these results are due to an unfinished BIOS, having outdated drivers, which has been experimented with with incorrect settings ... As the CPU does not officially exist and is not supported, the results of its tests are not totally reliable.
