Bitcoin Gold's initial problems are due to a denial of service attack, apparently launched from China and users filling Slack with spam.

There is a lot of talk about the launch of Bitcoin Gold and the problems and it is that yesterday, at 20:00 Spanish time, the mainnet had to be launched, but there was an unexpected problem. It took more than an hour and a half to start up and it was all due to a denial of service or DDoS attack, thrown into the platform's blockchain, which caused serious problems. The origin is not very clear, but everything points to an attack from China, where the main Bitcoin farms are.

Not only did the attack focus on the blockchain network, BTG's Slack group was attacked, filled with spam posts and extremely long texts, which were intended to hinder everything. Several accounts were created posing as the developers and team members, in which phishing ads were posted with wallets that only wanted to steal the BTG obtained. One of these attackers posed as Alejando Regojo, and incited users to go to the blockchain.info platform, as it had implemented Bitcoin Gold wallets. The URL was false, since instead of blockchain it was written as 'blodkchain'.

A bot called Hydra (Community Coordinator) also appeared, which through the Slack account sent a file that was supposedly a BTG wallet for Windows. Nothing could be further from the truth, since it was a virus. The announcement was as follows: “Since the launch of Bitcoin Gold on November 1, 2017, users have clamored for the launch for Windows. It has finally arrived with the launch of the Bitcoin Gold mainnet! The Bitcoin Gold v0.1 wallet is a native Windows wallet built from the latest release of Bitcoin Gold. Download and install the Bitcoin Gold wallet v0.1 ”.

The network is now operational without major issues. We use btg.suprnova.cc, as we already use Suprnova for other coins, and a wallet isn't necessary, which is quite convenient.
