Unicode Standard officially adds the Bitcoin symbol, which has been stalled for nearly two years, after its development was completed in 2015.

We all know the symbol of Bitcoin, which is the most famous of all and is a fairly simple 'B' that identifies it. From today the 10.0 version of the Unicode Standard arrives and it officially includes the symbol of this cryptocurrency. To add it, the code U + 20BF ​​has been provided. Likewise, Unicode has made official the inclusion of the Bitcoin symbol, which is a kind of combination between the letter B and the dollar symbol $, being incorporated into Apple, Samsung, Google and Microsoft devices, after updating, of course.

The arrival of the symbol in an official way, to be able to use it in conversations, has taken some years, since it was paused. In 2015, the creation by the Unicode Consortium was approved with the collaboration of the Bitcoin community. After being there, without knowing if it arrived or not and the popularization and rise of all cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, becoming a currency of current use for different payments and transactions, as well as applications that include wallets or payment systems for smartphone that have revolutionized financial services.

Regarding this announcement, we must highlight that the Bitcoin developers have shown their discomfort due to the fact that their team has not been counted on to work and add the Bitcoin symbol, highlighting above all the role of Ken Lunde, a member of the Unicode Consortium, who so far he has not commented on this. Bitcoin has been linked together with special characters from ancient cultures with specific writing requirements. Symbols have been included to write in Nüshu, which was used in the XNUMXth century in China to write poetry, Soyombo and Zanabazar Square that allows writing in Sanskrit, Tibetan and Mongolian, among others.
