These data would have been obtained through a psychologist at the University of Cambridge, the academic institution that has no relationship with the North American company. Aleksandr Kogan collected the data of 270.000 users who worked on the experiment through the application called 'thisisyourlife', for which he received more than $ 800.000, from Cambridge Analytica.

By accessing these accounts, Kogan was able to gain access to these people's friends and that of his friends' friends, and so on to gain access to the data of more than 50 million accounts, which have been intercepted.
