Stardock CEO Brad Wardell has spoken about Microsoft's Project Scorpio, commenting that this console will not have 'any technical limitations for games'
Since the specifications of Microsoft's Project Scorpio were published, new data and some comments from within the world of video games have been released, among others. We know that this console, replacement for the XBOX One, will have hardware based on AMD technologies, such as the processor or graphics, customized by Microsoft according to your needs and that it will have 12GB of GDDR5 memory (which is usually used by graphics cards and is faster and more powerful than DDR4 memory).
Stardock CEO Brad Wardell has spoken about the console and commented that it should not have 'any technical limitations for gaming'. Wardell also assures that 'it will take several years for AAA games to appear that make use of all the power of Project Scorpio and the DirectX12 and Vulkan APIs', and has also commented that the Ashes of the Singularity game has been' the first real test from Nitrous (the graphics engine they have developed) '.
Wardell has highlighted that one of the most relevant features of DirectX 12 and the Vulkan API is the ability to load DFX objects onto the GPU through multiple threads. He has also highlighted that the current loading problems of the different software and the time it takes to load them is directly caused by textures and meshes, something that thanks to Vulkan and DX 12 can be done in parallel in the near future.
It is running a lot selling the skin of this console ahead of time and despite the fact that its 'wonderful' features are sold very well, we are talking about a processor with more than obsolete architecture and hardware that we will see how it is capable of moving 4K textures with 12GB GDDR5 of shared memory, since memory is for the processor and graphics, something that we already know well in computers and memory sharing is not something interesting in the hardware world, that is why it is chosen that the processor has its RAM memory and graphics cards their own.
It gives me that they are selling smoke, I doubt that this console will pull with games in ULTRA at 4K and 60 fps. And if not look at the XBOX one, which promised to run at 1080p and 60 fps and in the end the reality almost all the games at the end go to 720p and 30 fps
Technically that is completely impossible. We have to bear in mind that to play 4K @ 60 fps you need a GTX 1080, at least, and a powerful processor to support it. We are also talking about 8GB of GDDR5X memory only for the graphics and we already recommend at least 16GB of DDR4 memory for the processor in gaming equipment, therefore, no matter how powerful GDDR5X memory is, having 12GB GDDR5 shared seems strange and also , these GDDR5 memories are less powerful than GDDR5X, which makes for a very rare system. Note that 4K resolutions consume a lot of memory, that is why it is difficult for us to think about 4K at a technical level, no matter how much the code and graphic computing are polished. What can happen also, by sharing the GDDR5 between processor and graphics is a saturation and the crash of the equipment.
I don't see it either. But hey, they will remove filters, lower textures, scale resolution, they will say that the aa is not needed to play 4k.
It has been many years since I stopped playing on the console and I am getting happier every time.
The problem with consoles is that they are obsolete before they go out. This console mounts an AMD Jaguar x86 customized by Microsoft. Jaguar is completely obsolete, as much as they say it will move 4K, I doubt it horrors.
Yes I know. They are closed systems with components that are far from high-end and that from the moment each of those components is decided until the console goes on the market there is already a lag of perhaps a year.
But nothing ... have to say that scorpio will move 4k games, as before I have to say that the one would move games to 1080. And Sony is the same or similar. As always ... Because common sense is the least common of the senses.
