Chrome will have an anti-adblock system, to help monetize the websites

The new Google Chrome solution to help in the monetization of the sites is to create an anti-adblock system, so that the ads on the web are shown and create restrictions for those who block them.

A current has been created between different channels, in which YouTube is claimed, which does not even give for pipes and it is true, we also suffer, since we barely get to pay for hosting and other things. This is due to the fact that users have an active adblock and that affects the income of YouTube and the websites. Chrome has recently turned on a blocking system for intrusive ads, which do not meet Better Ads standards.

For users, this is positive, since we should not install third-party extensions and other tools, thus saving on resource consumption. This way we will get rid of full-screen ads, ads that play in the background and that we cannot deactivate or videos with automatic playback, which give the beating and do not interest us in the least.

The problem is for advertisers, who with these external blockers and this new system against invasive advertising, could generate a loss of income, which would end up affecting the development of applications and services. Google, for this and other reasons, has developed a system against adblocks, which will be implemented in different countries, including Spain.

When we access a page that has blocked ads, Chrome through a warning in the address bar if we are on the computer or at the bottom of the screen on the smartphone. The visitor will have the power to allow these ads and three types of messages will appear:

  • Disable the blocker and do not restrict access to web content.
  • It counts and limits the number of visits of a user to a website each month, according to the owner of the page, before blocking the content.
  • Block access to content until ads are allowed on the web or paid to access content, through a subscription service or with the Google Contributor system.

Google highlights that this function gives good results, since on the websites where it has been tested, 16% allow ads, reaching rates of 37%. It should be taken into account that the ads on the webs are a large part of the income of the pages, just like the ads on YouTube and since it is free content, that less than allowing the ads, so that they obtain a minimum income, Otherwise, everything will be paid and then the complaints will appear. Of course, if they are non-invasive, annoying ads or that play videos in the background that are impossible to silence, those are unfortunate.
