CNVi and decoding of codecs using chipsets, the two most interesting novelties of the Intel H370, B360 and H310

The new Intel chipsets, not only come with certain cuts in terms of performance, they also offer interesting technologies such as CNVi and decoding of different codecs.

The arrival of the new Intel chipsets for Coffee Lake processors, bring with them some interesting and little-known technologies normally. As you well know and have been able to read on our website, the complete characteristics of the H370, B360 and H310. These chipsets and the motherboards on which they are assembled have been developed with mid-range and entry-level processors in mind, which until now could only be mounted on Z370 seats. With these new processors, comes the interesting CNVi technology.

This CNVi or Integrated Connectivity technology is only available on the H370, B360 and H310 chipsets. This wireless connectivity technology has been specially designed by Intel for its processors and it arrived for the first time last year 2017, with its Gemini Lake processors and now makes the leap to Coffee Lake processors.

Its operation is quite simple. It is a technology that allows the connectivity of the WiFi AC and Bluetooth 5.0 motherboards to be distributed to the processor or chipset. In case the motherboard is small, you can choose to have the connectivity go directly to the processor and if it is ATX size, you can send this connectivity to the chipset, directly. A very interesting technology that reduces latency.

They are not the only interesting novelties of these chipsets. These offer multimedia support for Rec. 2020 and HDR in UHD Blu-ray content, in addition to allowing hardware decoding of HEVC 10bit, HDCP 2.2 and VP9 codecs. Chipset compatibility with these codecs allows the processor to be relieved of these tasks, reducing the processor's load and allowing it to focus on other tasks, if necessary.
