The new processors from AMD are clearly the desperation of the company to try to reach the level of Intel. Yesterday we saw an image that showed that the total surface area of ​​Intel processors was almost half that of AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors. The explanation is that AMD has integrated up to four CCX modules (equivalent to two AMD Ryzen 7), in the same package and they will communicate with Infinity Fabric, the way in which AMD processors communicate, which we have talked about in other times, while Intel is committed to communication through Smart Caché L3, more efficient and powerful.

The most powerful processor based on Threadripper, the conversion to the general market of EPYC, will have a maximum of 16 cores and 32 processing threads, providing 64 PCIe 3.0 lanes. The Intel i9 7900X processor is true that it will have 44 PCIe lines, but it has a trick, since the Intel X299 chipset carries another 24 indirect lines, therefore they are in the end more lines than AMD processors.
