AMD talks about the AMD Ryzen Threadripper in its Keynote at Computex 2017 and has surprisingly confirmed that ... no, nothing about that, it has not given the slightest information about these processors, it has simply taught us the brick of processors that these will be.
As we knew that AMD would not present AMD RX Vega, we decided to go to sleep peacefully and see what was in store for us today and it is like that, there have been no surprises and AMD RX Vega has not appeared anywhere. Some called us liars or slanderers, but hey, AMD has helped us shut up a lot of mouths. The truth is that for those who know AMD well, like us, we already knew that we would see absolutely nothing, so we went to rest for a new day of Computex 2017. Something has been seen, the AMD EPYC have been seen ... The AMD Ryzen Threadripper.
The new processors from AMD are clearly the desperation of the company to try to reach the level of Intel. Yesterday we saw an image that showed that the total surface area of Intel processors was almost half that of AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors. The explanation is that AMD has integrated up to four CCX modules (equivalent to two AMD Ryzen 7), in the same package and they will communicate with Infinity Fabric, the way in which AMD processors communicate, which we have talked about in other times, while Intel is committed to communication through Smart Caché L3, more efficient and powerful.

The most powerful processor based on Threadripper, the conversion to the general market of EPYC, will have a maximum of 16 cores and 32 processing threads, providing 64 PCIe 3.0 lanes. The Intel i9 7900X processor is true that it will have 44 PCIe lines, but it has a trick, since the Intel X299 chipset carries another 24 indirect lines, therefore they are in the end more lines than AMD processors. It should be noted that we do not know how many lines the processors above the i9 7900X have. Some have been launched directly against Intel and lie or tell the data that interests them, but we already know, they do not give for more and we will not enter the 'balls' that they become. The AMD X399 chipsets (we can name each one before the chipset so that you don't get confused, because it goes with AMD), they do not support indirect PCIe lines, well, it is the processor that does not support them.

Right now about the performance we can speculate everything we want, that we are sure we are wrong. In the table that we will leave you after the jump, we can see that Intel has set highly competitive prices, ranging from $ 242 for the quad-core and four-thread i5 7640X, to $ 2000 for the 9-core and 7980-thread i18 36XE processing. AMD for its part has not given the slightest information about Threadripper, without confirming models and number of cores and processing threads, frequencies or prices, so as always, we live in constant misinformation on the part of AMD, which gives rise to all these absurd tell and tell by 'brothers-in-law' who claim to know about hardware.
