We analyzed Keynote by Intel, AMD and NVIDIA at Computex 2017 and reviewed a little the impressions that these presentations have left us and what we expected from them.
The three most important Keynote of any technological event, are usually those of AMD, NVIDIA and Intel, the big three of the hardware world and on which all derived components rotate such as motherboards, RAM, storage units, monitors, various peripherals, power supplies, chassis and cooling systems, among others. We are going to review what these three companies have presented or not during their Keynote at Computex 2017, who had the eyes of the entire hardware and gaming world on.
We will start with NVIDIA, from whom great announcements were not really expected, what's more, everything pointed to information related to cloud systems, AI and autonomous vehicles and perhaps something related to its gaming software or something about Shield or derivatives. We were not really interested in his Keynote, but he has surprised us all with Max-Q, a technology developed to make laptops more compact, so much so that the size of gaming laptops is reduced by a third compared to current ones. and including up to a maximum of the NVIDIA GTX 1080, without this posing a temperature problem.
Intel has met expectations, officially presented the Intel Basins Falls processors, based on the Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X architecture, what's more, unexpected processors have been announced, since we had a maximum of twelve-core information , but they have confirmed processors with up to eighteen cores (and twice the processing threads). Intel has also confirmed the price of these processors and the release date we already knew, during the second half of June, where it would reach the Intel i9 7900X, arriving in July / August, predictably, also seeing a large number of motherboards for these processors.
AMD, for its part, we cannot say that it has excited, rather, on the contrary, it has left a rather bad taste in the mouth. The Sunday before the event we already announced that we would not see the AMD RX Vega, since they will arrive at the end of September at the earliest and this was confirmed, since they have announced a presentation at the end of July, predictably, although so many times they had to announce / officially present AMD graphics, that until we see them, we will not say black or white, we will simply wait for future events.

An official presentation of the AMD Ryzen Threadripper and a confirmation of a release date were also expected. We have been able to see one of these processors, which in the end is nothing more than an AMD EPYC with fewer cores, apparently, since the two seem to have the same considerable size. Threadripper is basically two Ryzen 7 positions on the same PCB and in the same package, with twice the size of conventional processors, such as Ryzen 7 or Intel Kaby Lake. The name of the models, frequencies and prices were not confirmed.
We have seen some motherboards for these processors, which are based on 8 + 6-pin and 8 + 8-pin EPS power, which indicates that these processors will have a considerable consumption. Along with the problem of consumption, comes the problem of heatsinks. Noctua has presented several prototypes for Threadripper at Computex 2017, but has already said that they will not have heatsinks ready for the release date of these processors and all the manufacturers of heatsinks are in the same situation. Intel will allow to recycle the heatsink for the Basins Falls, but for Threadripper we need exclusive heatsinks, which is an extra expense and if we have a fairly new heatsink, we will have the problem that it does not work and we will have to make a new investment. We also do not know what temperatures these processors will rise to, an added problem.

We have attended three important events that the three states have given us, a surprise from NVIDIA, with Max-Q. Intel has continued to do the job well and in line, announcing the new processors and the price of the same, while AMD has given us a new disappointment, expected on the other hand.

No, if the TDP is fine, but it remains to be known what consumption they will have, because I have seen plates with EPS connectors of 8 + 6 pins and 8 + 8 pins (300W and 250W, respectively) and the temperature at which they will reach.
And the price, don't forget the price.
The consumption should be similar to tdp, since if they dissipate 155w, they would have to consume at least 155w
