Odin3D Sculpting Contest With Amazing Prizes!

Odin3D starts a sculpting contest in Zbrush with some incredible prizes. Participating is free!

It is not the first time that from Hardwaresfera we have told you about the Odin3D web, for those who are not yet posted, is a website run by a team of professionals in the video game industry who have worked on major Triple AAA projects (some of which you may have played for sure, such as the incredible Metroid Samus Returns). Well, on this website they are dedicated to offering help to anyone who wants to start in the world of art, whether as a generalist, 3D Artist or 2D Artist. They have everything from free utilities to incredible services at a great price, accessible to anyone of any level.

This time the Odin3D team has decided to hold a contest among its students encouraging them to ask for feedback and to get out of their comfort zone.

Here we leave you all the information about the contest:

Duration: From July 31 to September 16 at 8PM Central European Time. No time limit to sign up for the contest.

Next we are going to comment on the bases of the contest:

Requirements to participate:

  1. Be subscribed to the Youtube channel Odin3D (And activate the bell!).
  2. Dejar a comment on the video about the contest with “I'm going to participate!” or whatever you are excited about but make it clear that you are part of the event
  3. Be a student of Zbrush course by Odin3D (If you are not ... go ahead! We are a very nice community).
  4. And obviously, belong to Discord of Odin3D students. If you are a student and you are not inside, ask for an invitation Facebook or to the mail [email protected] Yes! You will have to indicate your username and on which platform you are registered to identify yourself (Odin3D or Udemy).

How the contest works:

  1. Collect multiple references (or create them if you have enough skill) and upload a screenshot of them to the Odin3D Discord channel in the “WIPs Contest” section so that we all have a rough idea of ​​what you are going to produce. (You can change the idea as you go, but you always have to have a good base of references to be able to start any project).
  2. Upload progress on Discord channel  in the same contest-wip channel to share your progress. (Please, do not be ashamed to show your work, we would like to see something more than a photo of the first day and another of the last, it will surely look great!)
  3. When you finish the sculpting you will have to mention any of the channel administrators in WIPs and notify us that you have finished, in that same message you will have to upload only 1 or 2 captures of your creature's zbrush. The resolution must be at least 1920 x 1080 as we will use those renders to publish them on the Odin3D Blog announcing the winners.

Extra information:

  • To have the references well organized and comfortable to use, we recommend PureRefIn case you do not know it, it is a totally free program with which you can work alongside Zbrush in a very comfortable way. We highly recommend it and we hope it will be of use to you.
  • In case of lighting or using polypaint and working a lot, the presentation will be appreciated, but only the sculpted will be valued. So that's up to you.
  • Remember that you can give the tab key to make the Zbrush window bigger and if possible remove the background with a gray scale, you have that in document> Rate (Set it to 0)
  • To send the prizes, we will speak personally at the end and you will be asked the address and the rest of the information necessary to carry out the awards ceremony.
  • Winners will be announced 1 week after the contest ends.
  • The prizes will be delivered when we have all the material, keep in mind that to print the figures we may have to ask you for the .ztl file to modify it and make it printable, plus what it takes to print the figures and send them.
  • The figures will be ordered from sculpting, to whom Odin has previously sent several orders and himself assures their good quality and service.

The theme of the contest:

The theme to be sculpted for this contest, as you have seen before in this same article, is “REPTILIAN CREATURES“, you have total creative freedom, you can use Concept Arts of whoever you want (remember to ask the artist for permission) or if you have enough drawing skills, make your own ideas.

What day does it end?

On September 16 at 8PM Central European time the possibility of sending your entries will be closed and next Monday the winners will be announced in a blog post with the respective renders delivered and we will write privately to each of you (if you have won) by discord, so keep an eye on Discord that week :), we will talk with you and ask you for the information for the delivery of the contest prizes.
