PS5 now allows SSDs of up to 8TB capacity

Sony has made a software update for PS5 available to users, which includes new improvements such as increasing storage support SSD M.2. After this update, an M.2 SSD with up to 8GB of storage can now be added to the PS5.

Previously, the PS5 supported secondary M.2 SSDs up to 4TB. It was already a huge improvement over the less than 1TB SSD included as standard on the console.

In addition to supporting an 8TB SSD capacity, the PS5 is compatible with Dolby Atmos

Aside from the increased amount of storage, this new PS5 software beta also includes new UI improvements. Another improvement is that the console supports Dolby Atmos, even with games that use Sony's 3D Audio technology. It can also be used in streaming and Blu-Ray playback applications.

As for quality of life features, the PS5 startup beep can be disabled via an option in the settings menu. A second controller can be assigned to an account as an assist controller, so you can quickly grab a gamepad and help someone through a difficult part of a game, such as one of the use cases. The update also includes improvements to PS5 voice commands, which can be activated through the DualSense controller's microphone.
