Microsoft files a patent for a portable console or a dock to play on smartphones
A patent filed by Microsoft that would refer to a portable console or some type of dock developed for a smartphone.
If we talk about portable consoles, Nintendo is the undisputed queen of this type of platform. The Japanese company has historically been the best at manufacturing this type of device. As the most recent console is the Nintendo Switch, which is a success in sales. So far it is the only platform that sells this type of product, but Microsoft also wants to enter this market.
It is not clear if we will finally see this new console or at least an interpretation of it. And it seems that Microsoft has filed a patent on the video game platform, more or less. It seems that the company has developed a kind of controls for a smartphone or at least, it seems.
Microsoft wants to compete with Nintendo in the field of portable consoles
Microsoft's patent would be based on two elements that are attached to the smartphone at the ends of it. It would not be a console itself, it would be more an attempt to exploit the gaming platform that moves the most money. If it ends up confirming that it is nothing more than a simple coupling, the truth is, there are hundreds of similar possibilities on the market.
Currently we do not know very well if it will be a complete or partial console and if it will only allow you to play smartphone games. It doesn't seem like it was developed for cloud gaming. Possibly it is something more thought like the Steam Link, running the games on the console and playing them on the smartphone.
Regarding this system, not much more is known about how it will work. The images that have been developed by Sarang Sheth, Editor of Yanko Design, based on the filed patent. We assume that in the coming weeks or months we will know much more about this platform.
