Sony raises the price of PlayStation Plus annual plans again

Along with Sony's monthly announcement about PS Plus monthly games, in addition to the games that will be played with the subscription, they have confirmed that prices for all PS Plus 12-month subscription plans will increase as of September 6, 2023.

They claim that "this price adjustment will allow us to continue to offer high-quality games and value-added benefits to your PlayStation Plus subscription service«. It is most likely because they are having a hard time convincing publishers to give them the option of downloading games, because in the end, they are letting many people have the game in their library without receiving more than what Sony gives them.

PlayStation Plus prices are raised even further

Starting September 6, the new PS Plus prices for a 12-month annual subscription will be as follows:

  • PlayStation Plus Essential 12-month subscription: €71,99
  • PlayStation Plus Extra 12 month subscription: 125,99
  • 12-month subscription to PlayStation Plus Premium: €151,99

When Sony relaunched PlayStation Plus in the summer of last year, it brought with it all three levels and a reinvigorated library of games. With the new prices, PS Plus Essential will now be about 10 euros more expensive, PS Plus Extra will be 16 euros more expensive, and PS Plus Premium is 20 euros more expensive. Prices increase by 20%, and Sony says that this should allow the games they bring to be of better quality. Of course, it does not seem that with these prices, they want to get closer to the Xbox Game Pass model and that the launch games are available on the same day.

People who have automatic renewals active for 12-month subscriptions will not be affected by the price increase immediately. Automatic renewals until November 6 will remain at the previous price. If you make any changes to your subscription, such as upgrading or downgrading or purchasing additional time within that period, you will be charged at the new prices. Of course, those will be official prices, and there will be no shortage of options to get them at a discount.
