The future PS5 already has multimedia apps like Netflix intended for launch in November. PS5 will be a complete multimedia center.
Since the first PlayStation, the goal has been to market consoles as more than just gaming devices. The first PlayStation played CDs, the second DVDs, and the third has played Blu-rays. But with the ever-increasing use of streaming services, these platforms are in high demand, which is why the PS5 will have streaming apps like Twitch , YouTube, Spotify , and Netflix available from launch day, with more to come.
You can watch many series and movies on your PS5
Sony has announced that the following streaming services will have apps for download on PS5 on the same day of departure.
- Apple TV
- Disney +
- Netflix
- Spotify
- Twitch
- Youtube
- Crunchyroll
- Amazon Prime Video
- MyCanal
- Hulu
- Peacock
- dmm.com
- U-NEXT
It should be said that more will arrive and some of these will only be in North America or Japan due to geographical limitations. Sony continues to sell its consoles as, in addition to game centers, multimedia centers to get the most out of your console.
It is not stupid that we suggest that they want the consoles to be multimedia players as well. As we said, many PlayStation were sold as music players, the PlayStation 2 was an affordable DVD player, and the PlayStation 3 was the cheapest Blu Ray player on the market. With PS5 they want you to be able to play your entire library of digital content, including your Netflix subscriptions or your YouTube channels as a replacement for a Fire Stick, Roku TV, Chromecast or the smart TVs themselves.
