Nintendo has been having a tough legal battle regarding users reporting that the Joy-Con stick, its default controller, ends up sending a signal and moving the character or menu, even when completely still, in the year since the console came out. This "Joy-Con Drift" has led Nintendo to legal battles, in which they have claimed that it is not their responsibility since it is expected due to use.
But the European Union has not been kind to them. The company has changed its Joy-Con repair policy, so that they now repair them even if they are not under warranty.

Nintendo is now finally offering free Joy-Con repair services. In the UK, the European Economic Area, and Switzerland, Nintendo will now offer free Joy-Con repair services . Controllers will be repaired even if they are out of warranty.
Until further notice, you will not be charged by Nintendo in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom and Switzerland for response syndrome repair, regardless of whether it is due to a defect or wear and tear
Nintendo has already quietly offered free Joy-Con repairs in some areas. It is now part of the company's official repair policy throughout Europe. So if your Joy-Con starts to suffer drift problems or stop responding, you can repair them for free by contacting their customer service.
