Sony integrates the open source emulator PCSX in the PlayStation Classic and the controversy begins
Inside the PlayStation Classic, the open source PCSX emulator has been integrated and this has generated much controversy among fans.
The PlayStation Classic console is already on sale and Sony seemed that they would choose to develop their own emulator for the games, but the thing has not been like that in the end and they have chosen to make use of the open source emulator PCSX, which has been around for many years. being used for PC, allowing to play the most legendary games of the platform on the computer. That's a pretty cool solution on Sony's part.
Sony has chosen to install an open source emulator on the PlayStation Classic.
A lot of criticism about Sony has started to rain after this important information was known. Although the company has plenty of capacity to develop specific software or an operating system that would do the same more quickly and easily. The company has decided to optimize costs and not only on the console, some games will not be available in Spanish.
As is logical, Sony has fallen the biggest and with good reason. For years, video game development companies have systematically attacked those who developed a video game emulator. Sony for several years tried that Bleem, the first emulator of the Original PlayStation has been reprimanded and has not said anything about it, the threats did not have the slightest effect.
Thus Sony is giving free rein to emulator developers, leaving these to be simple pirates to be developers or creators of content that fill a vacant space. This the company apparently does to simplify the operating system a bit more and thus also simplify the hardware a bit, not requiring so many resources.
It not only serves to lower costs at the hardware level, many have criticized that the company is saving costs by taking advantage of the work of third parties without compensating them, something that is really ugly.
The PlayStation Classic uses an open source emulator, PCSX. Less educated people might see this as a cause of frustration, but here's the reality: it's an recognition that an "amateur" emulator can be just as valid as an "official" one (and they're usually better!). pic.twitter.com/zJztoiYiwT

19 years ago, Sony unsuccessfully tried to sue a PlayStation emulator out of existence (and when they lost, they purchased the emulator and shut it down). Now they're happily using open source emulation for their own products. How far we've come!
