Sony patents new features for Share Play

Lately many patents filed by Sony for their future console are coming to light. Perhaps the most surprising, apart from the preliminary design of the console, is its cartridge system. Although this will not be the only new for the new PlayStation 5. Sony reportedly filed a new content management and tagging process with the United States Patent Office.

Sony and Microsoft are working on their next generation of AMD processor and graphics based consoles. To date there are few things confirmed about these new consoles, being the only one that will use SSD units. For the rest we know little else, except rumors and speculation about performance, benefits and other aspects.

Improved Sony Share Play experience

The improvement in labeling and content management for the user would be related to Share Play. This function was initially introduced in the PlayStation 4 and would be adapted to the PlayStation 5. It is possible through this function to share video clips with friends or store them to send them in the future. We can record any elements that are on the screen when we estimate.

Now Sony wants to expand the functions that Share Play allows us in view of its future PlayStation 5 console. The patent refers to screenshots, expanding the options and allowing users to relive the moment.

Possible cartridges for the Sony PlayStation 5

This patent indicates that "the metadata associated with the content generated by the users would allow the spectators to experience the same events that were recorded". A description that is not very precise about the function that would be added to Share Play. Now we can see the recorded video as many times as we want, although this new function could indicate a step further.

It is possible that repetition stores more data and we can even interact with repetition. Maybe it has to do with being able to enter the scene and see what happened from different angles.
